So basically my job had me in the scrap yard trying to clean up and get things looking more presentable. We just came under new ownership and it’s something that hasn’t been done in years. They assign me by myself and proceed to tell me I need to finish it by the end of the day. Around lunch I fell through some bad pieces and hurt my ankle pretty bad, they sent me to the doctor to, and the doc said I tore most of the ligaments in my foot. I come back to work and have to sit in agony not being able to ice it or anything bc the “work comp policy” apparently states I have to remain at work until 4 after any injury ( note we’ve had men break bones and have to do the exact same). My manager also takes no prolonged standing or walking as “light duty” and proceeds to force me to stand 10 hour shifts doing petty things like sweeping.
So the doctor scheduled me another check up appointment today which is a week prior to the incident. I already had to have a managers meeting bc they accused me of lying about having another apt. And said I was most likely trying to skip work today. As I proceed to leave I stop by my house and scoop some things I need for the appointment. I got several phone calls immediately afterwards, followed by a text firing me bc he apparently followed me and watched me stop here momentarily. Is there anything I can do legally?
