I got called in three times last week and I’ve already been called in twice this week (Mon & Tue).
I used to always say yes (which resulted in literal 65 hour work weeks), but I’ve been saying “NO” for the past couple weeks and they KEEP asking.
It’s insane how the girls who claim to “need” hours and the money constantly call out. But meanwhile I wanted to do less than 10 hours a week and have a job to pad my resume, and I get guilted and pressured in to doing overtime for weeks.
They keep scheduling me less than 16 hours on the weekend (I agreed to do the shitty weekend hours no one else will cover and work every holiday if I don’t have more hours during the week).
But I’m called in almost every single day. Mostly for evening shifts where it’s super understaffed and extremely busy (in a pharmacy). It’s really not worth the pay at all to be berated by a line of never-ending patients.
But I’m starting to resent both management and coworkers for callling out every day and screwing me over every time. I become the “bad guy” and lazy for not coming in. The pharmacy really falls apart when severely understaffed. But apparently I sit at my phone doing nothing all day waiting to be called in since I’m a unmarried girl with no kids and my boss says I have “no family” lol
