I’ve been a legal assistant for the past five years at a small law firm. I was about to quit after one year of employment due to the micromanaging and racist manager. I had already turned in my resignation when the owner offered me a work from home position. I got a 10-hour reduction, only working 30 hours a week but I got to work from home so I agreed. Ever since, I’ve been constantly overlooked for promotions, raises, 401k, etc… last year, I finally had it and told them that it had been four years and I’ve never gotten a raise. They agreed to give me one but I didn’t get one this year. I know other employees get a review every year and depending on their performance they get a raise, however I’ve never gotten a performance review. Their policy states that you qualify for a 401(k) after a year of employment, however I didn’t get one until last year when I complained I didn’t have one. I know other employees who are under qualified and have gotten promotions or they don’t have a bachelors degree like I do. Am I being discriminated against? I am based in California.
