So for about a year now I've been working as a groundskeeper for an apartment complex company. Shortly after starting they had me doing maintenance work with the maintenance guys which I was okay with. Then shortly after that they had me doing on- call without mentioning it in the interview for groundskeeper. Even though I didn't want to I still have done it the past few months.
Now there has been a company switch over to a new company. I told them I was going to look for a new job cuz I don't want to be on call and they said I don't have to do on call anymore because I'm a groundskeeper.
Now I just woke up to a text from my boss saying that I miss an on call last night and I was on call asking me why I missed it..
When I was told I wasn't going to be doing on call anymore and there was no communication with me Friday before the weekend started about me going on call.
They don't communicate with me about anything, they haven't given me a raise after all the stuff I've done. They expect me to do maintenance work without any tools too. Also I got my check late this week from the new company as the first check because they sent it through mail before direct deposit set up.
So I got paid a day late and didn't show up to work until I got paid. There was no communication with me about that either…
Am I in the right just to say skrew it and tell my boss that I quit? Guess I'm looking for a little bit more validation so I don't guilt Trip myself if I do make this decision? Getting another job is easy but I do not have another job lined up.
I just feel very put on the back end at this job and no communication and just expected to do what they ask and being on call is a huge issue to me especially without telling me.
Thanks for the feedback if I get anything on here. What would you do?
