Am I wrong for quitting?

I had started a new job in June. The onboarding process took a week, so I waited til I was officially a member of their team to let them know about s day off I needed. (Pretty important dentist appointment that I had been waiting two months for) I said I didn’t even need the whole day off if it was gonna be an issue, just the few hours before closing. I was told okay and then later in the week, that was a few days before the appointment, the manager said no (bc the other girl working requested off first. Mind you, she was hired two weeks before me.) I got pretty upset bc rescheduling would be a pain in the ass – I couldn’t wait for a few more months. It was ridiculous. And then I thought ‘well if she said no to one day, she will for sure say no to a whole month when I tell her I have to travel abroad to see my family’ whom I hadn’t seen for more than a year. My family and health is far more important than some stupid job that paid like shit anyway, so I quit the next day. What would you have done?
