Am I wrong for rationally going against my manager logics at work?

So, basically I can’t complain about my manager. She has her flaws at the job, but in comparison to other companies I’d say I’m very luck. The thing is, either she is bipolar or don’t know how to proper communicate herself as a manager. If you supposedly did something wrong or did it some other way other than the way she explained it to (you even though you got the same results at the same range of time) she will show she is upset to you. She won’t look at our faces, she starts acting like a child if I can say. As I work as a cashier in a cafe I asked the customer if he’d like his meal with the sides that come with it. He said “yes” and my manager told me not to ask it to them because the price was already high, even though everybody…

As I work as a cashier in a cafe I asked the customer if he’d like his meal with the sides that come with it. He said “yes” and my manager told me not to ask it to them because the price was already high, even though everybody else asks that to the customers.
I said “I ask it because when they don’t want it it’s such a waste of sides”
Which is the truth, sometimes they just leave it there and we have to throw it all away.

She does it to everybody else, she mistreat the customer, she is very very rude to some of them.
I get all uncomfortable when she does that because we are at the same space, and I start treat them very well!
She gets angry with me because of that, I’m sure.

Apart from that, she is a nice person, she has her problems into her family.
Not easy to cope at all.
But one thing I’m sure in this life.
Nobody can treat us like shit.
No matter who you are, you deserve respect and it is your responsibility to respect others.

She mistreated me once, and I answered back.
After that she never did it again and when she does the rosters I realized she avoids to roster we both together.

My question is, am I wrong to answer her back in situations that I feel like she is just picking on me or I should just be quiet and do as she says because she is the manager? Even though you visibly see that she is saying that because it is you?
