With the new price increases for both prime student and normal prime video, Amazon is increasing its revenue by around 8 billion dollars. This is to also say that before the increase they were making around 21 billion dollars from this service alone, so why the hell do they need an extra 8 billion?
20 dollars more a year is a lot for the average person to put into a streaming service, but 8 billion is nothing to a company thats worth 1.7 trillion. Whats the goal, why does amazon need thay money more than the person paying for the service?
There isnt any reason that doesnt end in absolute, pure greed, becuase they arent putting that money back into the service for a platfrom rework(lets be honest the interfere for prime is garabge), they arent putting that money back into the originals, they arent even going to give that money to actually employees that keep the service running. Its going to go to “corporate” and all of its constituents. Its just sad, even a company being worth 1.7 trillion is so damn depressing.
P.S if amazon prime was 5 dollars a month amazon would still make 12 billion dollarsa year in revenue. Probably more becuase of how many people would now be able to actually get a subscription. Its just insane, the whole fucking thing.
