American law violations.

First time poster from Canada asking our American friends a question. I understand the differences state to state in regards to labour laws what I'm wondering though; how is it that regardless of state or the company, that the government seems to allow and puts the burden on its workforce to not prevent but hold them accountable after the fact. I've no doubt it happens here as well I'm thankful and lucky enough in my experiences to avoid issues or having been so slight prefer to just cut my loses in the first place. With 10x our population figure it'll happen at the least 10x more often so I take that into consideration. Do you feel the company is to blame? I've notice the yeah the laws the law but burden of proof is falling on the individual to prove the discrepancy but reparations can take years to resolve at a great cost and burden considering you (the one suffering) is immediate. Like I said though, no doubt it happens here just the same and personally feel our government fails workers on the regular. Sorry for the long winded post just trying to understand your situation better and mean no offence any.
