And they wonder why we quit…

I’ve been at my service job a couple months but the pay kinda sucks compared to others in the area, and they keep adding me shifts to days i can’t do, so a couple days ago i handed my notice in over email. I went in for a shift today, my first since I handed my weeks notice and all the managers completely blanked me, the GM (the way he talks staff is another reason I quit), decided he was going to give me a list of tasks entirely out of my job description. i’m meant to be just a server, which is all i’m paid to do, but he had me drink running, cleaning as well as serving, which i’ve never done before and he gave me no training on. I should’ve refused but i thought screw it it’s my last week. i spilt one drink (not bad for my first time running) and he screamed at me in front of a busy restaurant. now this is clearly because i’ve quit and they feel betrayed or something but no one has actually mentioned or spoke to me about me quitting, although they’re obviously all aware of it.
I have two more shifts scheduled this week for my notice period but i’m thinking of just not turning up for them, why should i bother when this is how they act. for wanting more money. want staff to stay with you? pay a competitive wage – it really isn’t hard. Note i’m in the UK and notice periods here are contractually binding unlike in the US so i’m technically breaching my contract if i don’t come in.
