Anyone else getting screwed by PTO?

My workplace offers 10 paid holidays and 15 days of PTO/sick. And it has to accrue. That's not 15 days of sick leave and 15 days of PTO. That's 15 days of sick leave AND PTO. What the FUCK. That's barely 1 day a month. So if I want to do a vacation that is longer than one work day, I have to go months without PTO. If I have to get surgery or get sick for more than 1 consecutive day, I can't use PTO for a month or two. There's a chance I have to get my appendix removed. That's two days, maybe three. I have plans for a vacation in a few months. It'll be about 9 days.

My partner's company, on the other hand, has a 2 week MINIMUM PTO. They give them the entire week of Thanksgiving off, plus the week of Christmas through the new year. They randomly decided to have a company week off in July just because. Mind you, this is a highly esteemed tech company, as is mine.

Luckily I have an incredible manager who is very pro-employee and actively finds ways to sidestep this (“if you say you're watching your email, it counts as work”), but she can only get away with this for so long.

I'll start zoning out at my computer because I'm too tired to focus or I'm just burned out. It's wrong.
