I quit my job with 2 weeks notice, well, 2 weeks ago. I got asked to stay a couple more days to wrap up some work im involved in, i agreed.
I was underpaid and overworked, but that's standard i guess. The work atmosphere was getting toxic and i have a good support system, so don't need that kind of negetivity in my life.
Now one of our client texts me personally, saying his project has gone to shit, a project that's been going on for like past 6 years. I joined the firm last year, and barely worked on one small part of that.
Also the project's sad state is primarily the lead architects and the clients fault, they were dodging responsibilities among themselves, fighting, arguing and changing designs in the middle of execution constantly just for ego. Created such a hostile and toxic work atmosphere.
Now, he tells me to “think about him”, how my leaving will be a customer harrasment, and how it's my duty to serve him. And even squeezed in a bad analogy implying my actions were “corrupt”.
He doesn't pay me directly. I came in everyday did my job thoughtfully, didn't take vacation days, didn't skip in-person visits. Mind you, my hiring was not project based, i was a full time employee working on multiple such projects. This wasn't even my primary project.
Honestly I don't even wanna interact with such a self centred entitled person. I don't owe him shit. These rich and powerful people just think they can talk to anyone in however way they please. I just want to get away from these kinds of negetive capitalists as soon as i can. Their attitude will be their own demise.
I just wanted to rant. Sorry I was vague about details, for privacy reasons ofc.
TLDR; I quit with 2 week + additional notice, rich powerful client has the nerve to contact me personally, tell me it's my duty to serve him and plays victim. I was not even contracted for his project. I just plan to ignore and block him.
What would you have done in this situation?
