I asked my boss this week for a raise from $11 to $15/hr at my full time job of 12 years. Since the pandemic hit I've been very flexible in my ability to grow and perform various jobs, beyond my initial job title; that the agency has needed help with fulfilling. I felt very confident in my worth to the agency, and the reasonableness of my request.
Unfortunately, even though my boss who agrees with how I feel, and believes I'm deserving of the raise, doesn't have the ability to make that call. Upper management concluded they are in no position to give me a raise currently, even though they are considering giving a all around the bored raise of $1/hr to everyone in some unforeknown seen future??? Even if I received a dollar raise, I might be lucky if I could afford a nice efficiency apartment, and I definitely would still be living paycheck to paycheck.
Also, I heard apparently someone in upper management had the gals to even ask my boss if I would be missed, if I left the agency. That's even more upsetting to hear.
This whole situation has left me feeling deflated, defeated and depressed. I'm going to start looking for a job elsewhere, because I know there are plenty places starting out at more than what I currently make. It just sucks after investing so much time at a place to have to leave.
