Asked for raise and now they are hiring an entry level *no experience needed* position for the same salary range I asked for.

My workplace is a small business, fyi. I found the courage to ask my bosses for a title change to reflect my years of experience and a pay raise since I was still making entry level wages. It went relatively well, I left the meeting feeling good. Then… that night, while scrolling Indeed for my plan B job I saw a job posting for my workplace within my department, the same job I’m doing now. An entry level position, no experience required, and the thing that has me upset is the salary offered. Not only did I receive much less than that when I first started, I’m not even making that right now! And I even started at this company with previous experience. Of course I’m afraid they will low ball me with a counter offer when they get back with me, making my wages entry level once more. Basically…

Basically I feel like a fool. Friends joke that I should quit and reapply for the position.

I’m trying to figure out a professional way to confront my boss about this. I’m not one for confrontation which is why the meeting about my pay raise was such a big deal to me.

Not even sure I’m looking for advice, just a place to vent and strategize.
