Some of the tales on this thread reminded me of this one, so here goes:
I used to get casual labor from Home Depot, where there was always a bunch of great guys out there looking for honest work. I always paid above fair pay, and fed and gave them protective gear, water, etc. I had three favorites, and had the number of one, so I could call him when needed.
My neighbor asked me about them one day, said he needed some work done in his yard, so I called my guy, and the three came over. I saw them working at his place for two days: great, they're making some money.
Saw my neighbor a few days later, asked him how it went.
“Great! I got all that fucking work done for free!”
“How so?”
“Well, they're all illegals, so when they finished, I just told them to fuck off, or I'd call Immigration”.
“Actually, they're not, they're all citizens, and they're probably down at City Hall right now, filing a complaint, and telling them about your illegal backyard build, and all the code violations they mentioned to me the other day…”
“They don't know shit about construction!”
“Actually yes, they do it all the time; one of my friends is a contractor and uses them a lot; they can read blueprints better than me..”
“Oh. Shit; do you have their number?”
PS: I lied, they were all illegal, and they all got paid 🙂
This Guy seems to encapsulate 90% of the abject assholes mentioned in this sub. I wish it were not so.
