So I’m trying to figure out the logistics here. I live in Michigan which is an at will work state which means they can fire anyone at any point for no reason at all. My employer told us if we discuss our pay we would be terminated. From what I understand from being a member here that terminating someone for discussing their wage is illegal on a federal level. I just found out I make way less then some people that are working under me. I’m in a weird position where people in the plant act like I’m a lead when in reality I’m just an hourly grunt but when supervisors are gone I’m expected to backfill them. Supervisors here make easily $70-$75K a year which when you break it down is around $35 an hr. But here I am with more work constantly getting throw at my for my $19.50. Thank God we got our 3% raise. My real question is if I talk to HR about my position and my money how do I avoid throwing anyone under the bus being that I’ll be bringing up people under me are making more then I do? I don’t want them or myself to get fired for discussing wages ect.
