So my fiance and I went to Staffinders in February looking for a job. It was supposed to a contract for a sanitation job at Nickles Bakery. The contract was for 4-6 months, $20 an hour, Mon-Fri and we were not able to be put on the production line when needed. Then all of a sudden yesterday they gave a new schedule and we were set to be on production from Saturday until next Thursday. Meaning we wouldn't get our weekend off, they broke contract, and production workers make $15 an hour so that's what we would make this next week. I called Staffinders and I was told that there's nothing he's going to do about it and they completely fucked us over. So you know what? We're not going in. Quick reality check: you cannot boycott a business that you never supported in the first place. The only people who can successfully boycott Applebee's are their regular customers, and given that Applebee's targets conservative baby boomer middle manager types it's extremely unlikely that any boycott is going to happen. We can, however, hurt Applebee's by directly attacking their ability to do business. Applebee's depends on a constant stream of low wage employees which must be constantly replenished. They operate on the assumption that everyone applying to work for them is doing so sincerely, and have sized their HR departments accordingly. For the life of me, I do not get how companies can get away with forcing parking fees on their own employees. Especially when they are the ones forcing us to go back to the office even when we have been remote for 2 fucking years.
