Currently hacking up a lung sick at work but can’t leave

I took COVID tests and it’s not COVID- just regular illness. But still; my head is pounding and my throat hurts and I’m coughing every ten seconds it seems. I worked from home a few days ago, but came back in. My company operates under the guise that they care about work/life balance. Today is the last day of the month (work in manufacturing) so we have to ship everything. With my position I’m basically a professional babysitter making sure people do their fucking job. If I’m not here, the work doesn’t get done and then I’m to blame for it. So when people say “Just work from home” or “go home, it’s fine”. No it isn’t. It’s like that meme “Well yes but actually no”. In theory they will let me go home- but then nothing gets done and I’m STILL responsible. So fucking sick of this shit (literally).

I quit after two weeks working with an abusive coworker

Hey guys, my first post here. I've lurked this subreddit for a while and realized I'm not alone in hating work. It's a nightmare out there. Anyway, I recently left my part-time job at Guess after finding a full-time opportunity at O'Reilly Auto Parts, store #2616. Working less than fifteen hours a week just wasn't cutting it, so I had to move on. I'm not particularly savvy about cars, but figured my sales experience would still land me the job, which it did. The interview went well and seeing the place gave me promise. I had the feeling the store manager wanted to offer me the job then and there, but maybe that's me being cocky? Whatever, I know how to sell shit. I anxiously waited a week with no phone call, but he eventually offered me the job. So, I started my training about two weeks ago. Everyone seemed…

Is there a subreddit like antiwork but about renting?

Like, to discuss how we should end the system of landlords owning property and people being forced to rent. If anyone has recommendations, I welcome them.

“Nobody wants to work today!” You wanna tell that to the 65 job applications I’ve sent out and the 8 interviews that have gone nowhere this month alone?

Going to quit tomorrow, need advice

Hey everyone, I’ve been on here before, I have a cleaning job, I work 4 hours straight and the expectations and standards of this job are too much within the time window of 4 hours, well, tomorrow I’m quitting, because I’ve been lying to my boss about doing certain tasks, such as mopping the bathroom, I don’t do that because the floor only ever needs a quick vacuum in all of the bathrooms, but anyways, what advice would you have for me? My boss does think of me very highly, I’ve only been here for a month and she wants to make me the supervisor lol I’m a good cleaner but the time constraints are a big pain, but I’m also afraid of letting down my parents and more importantly myself :/

Most petty complaint from the boss

I tagged this NSFW due to the foul language contained in my story. Any way what was the most petty complaint you have received or overheard from your authority figures? I used to work with a manager [Billy] with an extremely sensitive nose. Every time he went to the restroom he would suddenly stop in his tracks and pull his shirt over his nose. He would often give dirty looks to the next person that came out of the stall. Billy also apparently had a Hank Hill like urethra which made his urination take ages. One time after using the restroom I opened the stall and Billy was standing there with his shirt over his nose. He screamed in anger, “DELICIOUS GRAND 7300! DID YOU MAKE CACA IN HERE?!? WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO IN HERE?!? IT SMELLS FUCKING BAD IN HERE MAN!…”. I lost track at the rest…

Rant – Tech industry

I never posted anything here but I felt like it would be a nice place to tell what I’m going through. I joined a tech company in November 2020 and at the beginning it was great, my manager at the time was a great person and he really helped me a lot and he had a great knowledge of the work. After a while I was promoted to Team Lead with a decent pay raise. Not only my manager was great but the people that I worked with was also very competent. Unfortunately, as all good things comes to an end, a lot of people left, including my manager and some new people arrived and that is when the problems started. Even though I was team leader I was not managing anyone, when my manager left I was put in charge to manage the team, even though I had no…

Emailed payslips not showing hours or hourly rate

Recently, my employer switched to emailing payslips. However, I have just noticed that I'm being paid a set amount for each month, even though I've worked more and less days (May 20 days, June 23 days). Unhelpfully, the payslips do not show the hours worked or hourly rate. It's very difficult to work out what I'm actually being paid in terms of hourly wages. I believe I am owed money as I have worked 50 hours extra over the last 3 months, but this has not been included in my wage packet. I am reluctant to contact my employer before knowing all the maths, just in case the maths checks out, so am looking for some help in this regard as to how to actually work out what I should be on. From April this year, I have recieved 5 months salary at the same amount. Prior to this, the…

New GM bullied everyone out of their jobs.

Have recently been caught up in a massive culture change of a once-inclusive independent theatre and I think people should know about it as many of the existing employees aren’t resourced enough to seek legal advice. The arts industry is already compromised post pandemic. The rates everyone is getting paid are way below market standard but that’s the least of our worries – we expect it in the arts. The theatre was smoothly run, everyone worked there (for significantly under market rate) because it was a nurturing, safe and inclusive place to work with very low staff turnover. We had a stunning bar and eatery which was booked out most nights. Our staff was almost exclusively queer and PoC artists, actors, musicians etc. A lot of us had our lives saved by working here. A few of us were disabled as well and our disabilities were supported so the diversity…
