LinkedIn really couldn’t get any worse
Last summer I accepted a promising job offer that turned out to be a nightmare. The workplace was a 15 mile highway drive from my home which seemed very close. But my interviews weren't during rush hour, and on my first day of work I realized how terrible the highway situation in the mornings was: Traffic was so bad, I drove most of my commute at like 10mph. And to make matters worse, the office was in the city center and didnt have it's own parking spaces, so I'd have to circle around the streets every day until I found one that was free of charge. sleep in a rest area
Just spoke with a union rep about a short term gig in live entertainment. After discussing the rates and the nature of the work, I inquired about any lodging or per diem because I'm going to be driving 16 hours one way to “make the magic happen”. hard work and dedication
If you were born in the 40-50s in North America the success story was graduating grade 9 and working a basic blue collar job. House, car, retirement no problem. 60-70s the success story was having bought a house, saving up basically nothing, then selling your shitbox house for a cool couple mil and retiring. 80-90 the success story is having not killed yourself yet and become educated enough you can work from your shit apartment. 00-today success story is having one of the previous sucess babies as your parents.
