I (23F) work in a UK supermarket kitchen, a job which I started the week that I graduated. I recently applied for a job at the head office of my company as a marketing advisor (I have a bachelor's in psychology and a master's in international marketing). I got rejected today. I'm fed up. I already have a student loan that I'll never pay off so I'll probably just retrain as a chef or cook. Edit: I should add that I've applied for a lot of other jobs in the last 7 months but this is the first time I've been rejected by my own company.

I work for a billing company. I got a call from a man about a refund he received, he didn’t go to much into it before he started to degrade me. He was mad because the refund took a while to get to him (I don’t even handle the refunds) and I didn’t even get to say a word before he started calling me a whre and a cnt and started to talk about my body in an extremely vulgar way. I only stayed on the phone to get his account information to send him to my supervisor because of how disgusting he was being. Ive emailed my boss about him, even sent her a text because i was getting NO response. Still haven’t gotten a response. Just feels so nice to know i can be verbally abused/sexually harassed by patients and it wont be a priority.

We just got pulled into a meeting to be told that we are all going back to the office 60% of the time. This mean 3/5 days a week we have to commute. HOW WAS A DECISION LIKE THIS MADE?! You'd have to be a total dunce to not understand how WFH benefits your employees. There is so much information on the subject! We were fed this bullshit story that it's going to help build relationships and we will be able to meet with stakeholders in person (which is somehow more effective?). In reality, they're forcing us to increase our costs by commuting, as well as denying us the ability to claim WFH on our taxes (Canada) as we need to work in our home at least 50% of the time. I'm fucking livid. Eat the rich, they're useless anyways.

So here is another discussion regarding health insurance. My sister in New York while a student was on Medicaid which means she is low income and does not need to pay a premium on Health insurance plans. She has a few minor medical issues but her thyroid needs to be monitored. So last year she got a job earning a total of $38K gross, Medicaid sent her a letter letting her know she is no longer covered and would have to get an insurance plan in the free market. She calls around for insurance and the lowest she can find is for almost $600 per month. That's a big chunk of her meager paycheck, her options are forego insurance, quit her job, find another job to cover insurance. She will not be able to survive with 38K a month much less paying for health insurance. Does anyone has any input…

My current situation shows the progress promoted by the media about equality with marginalized groups like Trans folk such as myself, is nothing more than a delusion. Especially down south out in the sub towns. Somewhat long post below: My boss pushes a lot of politics at work but strangely never started off making things unbearable at work. However a couple days ago when a friend who works at another store gave me some flyers to pass out for pride month (just flyers asking to support a list of charities if they can) he got pretty mad. He started leaking his personal politics into work but a couple of his sub managers had prevented hm from doing anything crazy because the flyers were harmless and he didn't want to look like the bigot that he is. Plus, it was only a dozen flyers. Those were given out and nothing else…
