I had a potential employer interview me and the interview went great. He said they would call me in the next week or 2 for a starting date. I never received a call but he did tell me during the interview that they were approved for an sba loan recently and would be getting company vehicles soon.

Did he just interview me so they could be forgiven for their loan and should I call to report them for that? The job was very easy and based on my experience they said I’m more ready than their other techs because I have way more experience.

Under paid and taking everyone’s bs.

ugh walked out of my job today, there's so little staff and dealing with employees attitudes I had to. Now I'm royally screwed. And I've fallen twice and they didnt do a form for it at all either times knowing I've got an already messed up knee did I make the right decision I mean clearly not because I'm going to be homeless but what else am I supposed to do.

I work in higher education. We cannot find employees to fill positions

I work in higher academia in a well-known US institution. We don’t pay amazingly (don’t I know that first hand), but we also pay better than other sectors of the economy and have much better benefits and a lot of paid time off that comes with our academic calendar. We have been trying to hire administrative staff and have repeatably had trouble identifying qualified candidates, and when we do, we get our offers rejected. My suspicion is that these candidates know very well that they can just go to the private sector because they would get 2X the salaries there. To me, I am not entirely sure a higher pay would make me happier given that I would have much less time off, but I would be lying if I haven’t been considering leaving academia because of how much better I can get paid elsewhere. And it’s not like I’m…

Do I resign in person or by email?

The reason I'm asking is because my superior has a history of witholding employees resignation and then decides when they get to leave (maybe a few days later). But I do not want that. I have already organized all my plans and will leave exactly on the date that will be stated on my letter. Now, if I resign in person (more polite and giving them heads up) I run the risk of them pulling that on me. If I resign by email, I would have black and white. They also have a history of not allowing employees to clear their remaining leaves during resignation which I find ridiculous.

Multiple bonuses stolen regularly in seasonal work

I worked seasonal jobs(national parks ski resorts, etc) for 15ish years. One of the tactics to tempt people to come out is that if you stay until your contract is completed then you get a $1 bonus for each hour you worked. When HR knows that they won't be rehiring someone for the next season, they'll fire them a few days before they complete their contract for their bonus. And it gets worse… since most areas that hire seasonal employees are remote the corporations provide housing(dorm style) and meals. They charge between 10-40 bucks a day and they take it directly out of your check. So when they fire these employees, the ex-employee usually has 12ish hours to pack their stuff and get off company property. Now the employee is literally homeless and some of them have inevitably already bought plane tickets… but the flight doesn't leave for awhile. Xanterra…

Brand new clinic totally misrepresented itself

I'm a veterinary receptionist, just left my last clinic due to toxic environment and a total disregard for Covid. I left just before my 3 months, having moved to the area leaving a clinic I absolutely loved after almost 2 years. I started at this new clinic a week ago, and it doesn't officially open for about 2 more weeks. Since starting: -Mask policy has already changed. I specifically asked in the interview, and was told masks were required with no plan to change anytime soon. A week after starting, masks are now optional. -Was told in initial interview and working interview about the system we'd be using. Didn't find out until after starting that actually, everything will be paper records and the system is only for scheduling and invoicing. As receptionist, this drastically changes my role as I'm the one who has to deal with all the charts, and…

Why don’t we put a price and employer qualifications on resumes?

If we are selling our labor, why don’t we put a price and minimum/ preferred qualifications for an employer such as health insurance, PTO, 401k, company vehicle, etc? Wage could be listed as a salary/ hourly and the expectation of commission, per dorm, project bonuses, profit sharing, stock options, etc could be shared upfront. If this would become common practice, hiring could become a level playing field.
