So my gf works at a fast food restaurant that is painfully understaffed. Her boss, let's call her M, decided it was a good idea to fire a bunch of employees for “having bad work ethic” before hiring any new ones. M said she would fix this, and so far has not. It's been months. Some employees are working over 60 hours a week. Gf, who was previously working reasonable hours and shifts got the shaft and is now being overworked to the point that it affects her mental health. She's a morning person but working 4pm-2am. Usually one day off a week. It's so bad that I've texted her during shifts to talk her out of hurting herself more than once. She's depressed, tired every single day from overwork, and often gets called in on her days off. Gf is a very kind and empathetic person, sometimes to her…
Our members are voting on a new contract tomorrow after 13 long years. The company gave us the “highlights” and have been running radio ads and only telling reporters the hood stuff obviously. The “34%” breaks down to 6, 3, 3, and 4% wage increase each year. They’ve added a MAXIMUM cost of living raise at 2.5% each year, and changed our variable 0-6% bonus to a guaranteed 2%. The past few years we got 0-2% because the company kept buying other businesses which tanked the metrics they use to calculate our bonus. They’re still in the red because they’re paying off all the massive loans they took out to make those acquisitions, which they’ve also refinanced multiple times and now pay 2-3x the interest. Meanwhile, the CEO makes $11+ million and all other VPs and c-suites make about 100k/month. Excited for this strike.

Whelp, I've got a new job that I'm pretty optimistic about, but… they need me to complete a couple of hours of online training before they'll finalize my hiring. I'm pretty sure that this is illegal – confirmation of that would be welcome – but I've decided to tolerate it for now, because I need this job, and I've got a good feeling how it's going to go once I've actually got it. This is a situation with the policy set by upper management / HR, and I won't be dealing with those people on a regular basis. But, although I want this job badly enough to overlook it for now, I'm annoyed and vindictive enough to report them if they don't renew my contract at the end of my first term. My question is, what information do I need for when/if the time comes?
time to talk about jobs!
Thought this asshole might fit here
What the actual fuck?
I've been noticing personally as well as with almost all my friends that they all complain that the management has become more inhumane after covid-19. . For those employed at the same place for the last 3+ years, did you notice something unusual? Something not right? Please share.
