TL;DR at bottom I work as a pizza delivery guy at a local restaurant. This happened about 3 weeks ago. Honestly pretty good timing, because I was about to move across my city to be closer to school. It started on Tuesday. The whole shift had been extremely slow, even more so than a normal Tuesday. I had an assignment that I knew wouldn’t take that long, so when I got back from deliveries and I knew I didn’t have another one right away, I would pull out my phone and do the assignment in ~5 minute chunks and managed to knock it out by the end of the shift. Every time I walked back in, all my co-workers were standing around or on their phones, see: extremely slow. None of them received the same punishment. We close and I go home, everything is fine. I go back to work…

Keep up the good ANTI-Work!!!
I just have to process this. This was about 2 hours ago. I live in Alabama, if that matters. I left at 3:30pm yesterday, as this is my normal time to clock out. I often work over because I was the only painter and sandblaster they had, so everything that shipped out had to go through me, and there was always too much to do. I had to take my niece to practice yesterday, so I didn't stay late. Apparently something had to ship out today, and I was supposed to stay late to get it done, when I planned on doing it first thing this morning. They said her practice didn't matter, because “Your job comes first. Hit the clock and go home. I've got no use for you.” I've been there over a year, I've never had a complaint. Never a warning. I've always gotten my stuff blasted,…
I was feeling bad about calling out for my mental health today but I remembered that my manager makes a big salary and its quite literally his job to manage shifts .from there I thought about everyone else's wages and realized I make the least. I'm a receptionist essentially. Every other receptionist also does graveyard shift (pays 2 bucks more) the cleaning team make the same as the night receptionist. So I'm the lowest payed employee, calling out .
I got a 1% raise
The company I work for does everyone’s raises at the same time in March. The most anyone got was 2.5% We’re super short staffed and I’m often doing the job of 2-3 people. My review this year was “exceeds expectations” for every category and 31/34 so pretty fucking good. But it was my attendance that’s lacking…. I had a fucking baby last year. I was sick my entire pregnancy and still only called in like once a month. They told me this yesterday afternoon. So I called in today lol I’m updating my resume 1% is a fucking joke when I’m bending over backwards, literally sweating from running around all day.
I am a full time college student, I see that as my job. It absolutely blows my mind when people expect us to go to college multiple days a week, study, do homework and somehow work as well to support ourselves?? Especially this is funny when colleges base our aid off our parents income, MY PARENTS DONT PAY FOR ANY OF MY COLLEGE??? Its also super funny when bosses find anything school related an inconvenience.
I quit today!
Went in expecting to survive a short and routine shift. It was neither! To foster impossible targets being reached, they put me on a completely new section I had almost literally no experience in and took seventy minutes to do one pallet because I kept looking for where things were. My target is supposed to be 25 minutes, which *even if* things aren't messed up and I know what I'm doing is…let's just say, not all that easy (IE unreasonable). I just. It's not happening. I waited for my break, loaded up on goods and used my 10% discount card the last time. Parked the goods in the staff room, asked a colleague to radio over a supervisor so I can cash my till out and I handed in my log-in fob and discount card and fucked off. There's an iron wall of stupid, numbers and policies that my immediate…
“Just get a better job.” “Move somewhere cheaper.” Why are we like this? Why do we as a society decide that no one deserves enough money to feed themselves, have a place to live that isn't in some open field or bog, or buy some basic supplies and clothes, and if they need these things, they should “just get a degree and get a better job” or some other bullshit? Which is also gatekept by people with money because I don't have the money to go to school even if I wanted to. I have an ok job. They treat me well. But I don't make a living wage. So here I am wasting what little time I have left, taking some free classes to get into tech, to do something I have zero interest in, something I hate, for the money. So I can use that money to do…
How do you stop a talkative coworker
The need for validation these people have every day is exhausting. I work in a small shop where we have to constantly collaborate and there is no free time except when you’re in the bathroom. Breaks and working is casual, even when we are busy we still have room to talk..I just prefer not to be emotionally drained by boss and coworkers each time I come into work because they don’t know how to stop unloading. I’ve been clear about my disinterest, openly disagree (non confrontational), also the fact I never share a single thing about myself. It’s just response fillers to get them to stop taking “yup, yeah, oh wow, damn that sucks” Blatantly ignoring them trying to “focus” on work. It doesn’t matter what approach I take..they genuinely have a serious insecurity problem with over sharing. It’s not even workplace banter..it’s just personal info all the time. I…
