I’m a licensed professional & I left my last high paying job because of a toxic work environment. Started new job two weeks ago and realized they lied about the pay rate in the first week but let it slide, then there were issues with their system preventing me from doing my work -even though I was there to do work, they refuse to count that time as work & won’t pay me for it. I found out today after asking about my first check that they only pay people once a month. Its trash out here all around🥲. I put in my two weeks & now they want a months notice instead.. they’re lucky I didn’t quit on the spot🤔 Don’t ever ignore the red flags for the sake of giving them a chance.

Unpaid training
This is illegal in the state I live in, yet my new job requires 2-3 days of unpaid training. Why are people so f'n cheap? I want to report them so badly, but this job is also an opportunity for me to get into the field I want to work in. Wish there was a way to make them pay!

About 1 year ago, my manager, also company ceo (named idiot bro #1) started treating my colleague and I like crap. Were both middle managers, in-charge of product design and maintenance. Manager would complain about defects, without giving any detail on what the defect is, then complain that were wasting time when we try to ask stakeholders what the defect could be. Ultimately wasting days for our teams time to investigate and find defects that really didn't exist. Then he would complain that other work which was due, was not done due to the time spent on the mystery defect. Let's My colleague had enough and quit. She was replaced by a senior product manager, who I would report to. Meaning I no longer report to idiot bro #1. This new manager seemed very professional and understood our operation was a bit janky. I began to trust her and explained…
I love this sub and think its purpose is necessary. With that out of the way i want to shout out my job and let you all know that good bosses DO exist so dont get down by this sub and think every boss is garage. I work for a small company as a software engineer and my boss busts ass every day and during crunch time he pulls 19 hour days. He never really gets mad at people for screwing up and he uses it as a “well you learned from a mistake moment”. And finger pointing is considered counter productive. Any mandatory time beyond 8 hours a day is redeemable at a later date and rarly asked for. Of course its not all best job of all the time, the pay could be better for the work asked. But when you have a leader as a boss its…
Just to give a little context. I work in a sales position selling ad space at a communications company. The pay is about 30% below the industry average and no base just commission. Previously I was at a really high stress door to door sales gig. It was horrible but paid slightly better than shit if you made sales. Then one day I got a call out of nowhere about this job. I didn't even apply for it someone I sold at the door contacted me about it. Well long story short I took the job because in the interview they said there would be no unnecessary meetings and as long as I made budget they'd leave me alone. They assured me it was a super laid back job. Well fast forward 3 months and they have started in micro managing even though I'm at my budget and have been…
A little light in the darkness
Obligatory statement of long time lurker, on mobile, etc. Just wanted to share some good news for once. Graduated from grad school right at the time everything in the US was shutting down due to “you know what.” I was unemployed for a few months until a job finally came along and I was ecstatic to earn even the smallest income. Little did I know what I was getting into. I was hired by CVS (to help with the Minute Clinic) and boy what a terrible fucking company they are. When I rightfully complained to the managers about horrendously unsafe working conditions and humbly provided opportunities for improvement, I was promptly told to, “Know my place.” That’s quoted word for word. As long as THEY were making money, they didn’t give a shit about their employees wellbeing. Well, I’d had enough of that bullshit after a few months so I…
