I saw a job advert that looked pretty good, the only downside was that they didn't disclose the salary, they asked applicants to write how much they would ask so the employer could “rule out people who did not match the profile of the institution”. That was the first red flag but the work itself looked pretty good so I applied anyways. I sent my CV and salary expectations along with a small greeting to the email provided. They replied by thanking me for my interest and asking me to send my CV (already attached in the original message). Red flag number 2, since apparently they couldn't bother to read the emails or check what was included. They asked if I would be available for an online interview that afternoon after 4 pm, I replied I was. They immediately asked if we could do the interview “during the morning” (note…
I'm not sure what to do next. I'm 28 years old, I did a BA is English and Cultural Studies. I was always told to follow my interests. And I've done that. between several bouts of joblessness. And I've drawn the conclusion that I don't like office work of any kind, don't want to do computer based work, don't want to do customer service, would like to work mostly alone. What do I like to do? Philosophize, contemplate. Be introspective. be mindful. I'd seriously consider becoming a nun/monk, if I didn't love my fiance so much and want to make a life with him. I mean honestly some peoples likes just dont translate into marketable skills. I've also noticed that everytime i start a new job thinking ive finally found the right fit, my mental health starts to unravel and QUICKLY. I can't get out of bed, im anxious and…
Is anyone else struggling with not being able to do work they enjoy because it won't pay the bills? I would love to move away from my office job that has me fantasizing about death to and from the office, but all the jobs that I am interested in wouldn't pay enough to be a realistic option. Anyone have advice on this issue and how to handle it?
Need to rant.
Religion is a tool to manipulate the masses (politicians do it), humans are just highly intelligent animals and it’s not in our nature to work 40 hrs a week. But religion is used to make it seem like it’s “God’s plan” for us to work our whole life just to end up with some freedom for the very last bit of our life. Fascism uses religion to manipulate people and it is on the rise because so many people (mostly young people) are starting to understand socialism better and fascists want to keep these people from convincing the rest of the US that marxism actually makes a lot of sense. There are too many older Americans who are brainwashed however we need to convince them. We need to reach out to brainwashed people and convince them if we are ever going to get out of this mess. People of this…
Self Employed Blues.
I am a self-licensed, self-insured, sub contractor. We (my crew) have been getting work from the same company for the last 6 or 7 years. The general age of the supervisors has gotten younger (closer to my age 26-29) with guys that are decently experienced and deserved the move up from field work. But the “lead supervisor” a guy who's been a manager longer, and is significantly older, and above him there's a shop manager who he answers too. Lately they've been telling my crews leadman that they've been getting complaints about work not getting done because of us from field supervisors. Which roughly translates to: The “lead supervisor” at the shop has multiple jobs that are slow and can't be complete because of lack of supplie, lack of manpower or lack of ability for the lead supervisor to pull his head out of his ass. And my crew not…
Ok NYDOL, What did you do with the information I originally sent you in the first place? Why do I need to send you the same information again? Why are you idiots so bad at your jobs…? Not only do I see this as an underhanded attempt at fleecing the poor, it is also just proof that you are wasting tax payers money by not doing your job the right way in the first place. This system wastes time for your workers, costing the Tax payers even more money in the end. It's easy to see that this ploy is a way to screw people who may overlook these e mails, being that it is already been over a year since these payments were given out. If I were done with UE, I would probably have no reason to check my account with UE. I personally will never rely on…
