Is it worth using something to change the away status?

hi guys, you helped me to convince myself that it is indeed better to study in downtime periods in wfh. But my question is, better to be “honest” and leave it absent and the screensaver appears on the screen or for example leave a weight on the ctrl key to stay online? My thinking is not to use this while I'm away from my desk, but when I'm around alert but doing something else, I believe the away status in teams is not true because I'm still available to respond. My concern is having a system that monitors this, but I don't want to move the mouse. Thanks.

My boss is too comfortable treating me like shit it’s too surreal

It’s got to the point he’s blaming me for the kids he is hiring not turning up and is expecting me to not just handle the rota but fix the issues when they don’t start showing up

When management doesn’t understand why you choose money over the company.

I weas laid off recently. I had been with the company for 10 years but had recently moved to a new team within the same company. Within 3 months of starting with the new team the company took an axe to the department as as one of the “new people” I was let go. Redundancy pay was calculated based on my time with the company, not just my new team, so I ended up receiving a massive pay-out. After all the paperwork was finished and signed someone must have realised what had happened or maybe they just cut too many people because I got a call from senior management asking me to come back. I had already landed a few job offers though so I said I'd stay only for a huge pay rise and if I got to keep my pay-out. However the manager I was negotiating with got…

Repercussions of reporting a policy that forbids you to discuss wage?

Hey y’all, so some time in 2022 I got hired at a small business as a seamstress. A couple months in I talked to a coworker about pay and they reported it to my boss who gave me a verbal warning about discussing pay because we have a policy about not discussing them. Well I know that’s hella illegal but never reported it because this job treated me really well. Except now im dealing with the owner who doubles as HR just being petty with the time clock and PTO. It’s really ridiculous and I’ve had some abusive jobs. Basically now if I’m 5 minutes late or leave two minutes early because I’m don’t with my work, they take that from my PTO. So that adds to 30 min this week, 25 the next ect. I can’t just run the clock for two minutes because they consider any inactivity time…

Stranded at work

So to preface I live in a very rural town with absolutely no public transit. I recently had to move here from a city where I could get away with driving short distances with my car that isn't legal yet (dealing with the state to get my title from an unscrupulous seller) but now to get to work I have to pass a military checkpoint to get on base. My boss agreed to give me rides to and from work until this is settled. Well today I get dropped off, and less than an hour in he calls me and tells me night crew called out so he left in order to come back for the night shift. Now I am stranded at work without a way to get home after my shift. I have no money to my name so I can't even get a cab. Looks like I'm…
