hi guys, you helped me to convince myself that it is indeed better to study in downtime periods in wfh. But my question is, better to be “honest” and leave it absent and the screensaver appears on the screen or for example leave a weight on the ctrl key to stay online? My thinking is not to use this while I'm away from my desk, but when I'm around alert but doing something else, I believe the away status in teams is not true because I'm still available to respond.My concern is having a system that monitors this, but I don't want to move the mouse. Thanks.
My manager goes on vacation just about every other week. It is not consecutive weeks that we have ample notice to prepare for. She will give us a few days notice that she will be on vacation for a week just about every other week. She has been on 4 separate week vacations in the past 6-7ish weeks. Yet, she got on my case when I gave her a month notice to request two days off for my brother’s law school graduation (obviously very important) We have been so short staffed we have been drowning. I work in a psychiatric unit on an adolescent ward. It is extremely hard. I have been drowning trying to take care of 20 mentally Ill teenagers all by myself for 12 hours a day while she is on back-to-back vacations.

Just got told I may be replacing someone's position at work because they've been getting complaints and I need to fix it. Then I was called into the office and told I was being written up for a bunch of unexcused absences that dated between 3/1 and 5/1. My last “absence” was over month ago and because my cat needed emergency care after surgery complications. Before that, it was because my car broke down and needed a few hundred dollars worth of repair that day because I had surgery the next morning. Then I was informed that my surgery recovery was not supposed to be excused, but “they didn't count that against me”. Like I'm supposed to be grateful for that absurdity. Apparently, the doctor or surgeon note only covers five days off and I was supposed to be marked for any days after that. I have an automatic one…
I’ve already decided I won’t be accepting the gift card out of principle. Any other suggestions as to what I can do to help them understand how incredibly insulting this is? Quitting isn’t an option.
