I feel like a failure or something. But I’m taking a month or two off. Draining my savings. Fuck it. Anyone else ever do this? Live off their savings to preserve their mental health?

Was I being unreasonable?
Last summer, I started working at a center for autistic children. I was told I would be working in the center but after they were comfortable with my training – they told me they would be opening a new center closer to me – but in the mean time they would have me work with clients in their homes. I felt a little uneasy because this was my first time doing this and I had not been trained to work at a clients house and I never had to interact with the clients family in that way before. Anyway everything was fine. I had one client five days a week for about three hours per session. Then I had another at home client added, three hours each session but only two or three days a week. However, these two clients lived about 30 minutes apart. When I had a day…
I’m leaving my job if 8 years.
Last year I was in contact with an employee that had COVID. My employer forced me to take a week off to make sure I stayed negative. They used my vacation time without me knowing. Found out, fought them for months and forced them to give it back. Today they tried to reprimand me for not wanting to use my personal vehicle for company work. (We have a massive fleet of vehicles and one at my disposal). If I got into an accident my insurance wouldn't cover me, their insurance wouldn't cover me and the governmental worksafe insurance wouldn't cover me. They also came out today and said that regardless of what the government comes out with. If we cross the border we have to take 7 days off. Be it vacation or sick leave. We have about 25 full time positions. In the last 3 years we've lost 1/3…
Woke up late, called in quit.
So I moved out of state for a job in my industry. Pays $6 an hour with tips ranging from $100-$500 a day. We keep our own tips, but up to $20 of my tips are shared amongst the low level managers, and this is rather rare in our industry. It bumps their pay and we tend to get to work with a better quality of what is usually poor supervisor (for many complicated reasons). All to forgo giving the supervisors more salary. Still many of these supervisors suck to work for and I will NOT be supporting their tip pool. We have three locations so my schedule is whack, I could have my schedule start times change four times in a week. The properties have separate leaderships that don’t communicate well or standardize rules. If another location needs the work we are told to clock out, transport ourselves to…
Like the title said, I’ve been yelled at by my boss in front of the customers. Untrained by the official staffs, the let the part timer train me to allow certain numbers of customer into the shop. And by certain timing, I am to stop them from entering. However, for whatever reason, I was called out from my post only to get yelled at on full blast for stopping the customer flow without asking the boss first. So I explained that I was trained to do what I did. The boss then yelled at me again and said “By right, you’re supposed to ask ME!” In conclusion, fuck your by right and train me like you’re supposed to.
He can easily be fooled and I got another job by 40% more
To make a long story short, today my boss called me into a meeting in which they told me that several people have “complained that I talk too much and will insert myself into conversations”. I work early in the mornings, and my medication takes time to kick in and begin working. This specific comment made me extremely uncomfortable and I am feeling much more relieved with my decision to quit my job. ADHD is also covered under the ADA and my employer making a comment like this with a condescending tone, while knowing about my condition, is very hurtful and I am glad i’m leaving.
Might get fired for taking vacation.
Every year for the past 10 years I have lived on the opposite side of the country as the rest of my family. Once per year I take a vacation to visit with them. Due to a company buyout, I now have three times as much vacation time annually as I did previously. However, when I notified said employer in December that I planned on taking my normal trip but extending it to my full amount of PTO, they strongly implied that they could not have me gone for three weeks and asked about me working while I am gone. I have no plans to work while I am gone because it is the only time I get to see my family. Honestly, I kinda hope they fire me for it.
