I am a truck driver, local route, and the only one in my state from this company. I was hired on a year ago at a lower than market wage because I was a new driver. That was fine, I needed the experience. I was told by the hiring manager that after a year, my wage would increase by $7 an hour. Seemed like a great deal to me. That was the market average for this area for my type of work. After 8 months he gave me a “raise” where in reality he just gave me more work. I bring home on average 1 dollar a day more but I work an extra day. He states that the owner will just fire people if they fight his wage offers. So I didn’t. It’s been a year now and I asked him about it, he says “blah blah blah Covid,…

Government job offer
I just got a job offer to work at Bonneville Power Administration. It's a student pathways position (Gs7). Does anyone know how these work? I ask because I was told government jobs were nice by people on this sub.
So I contracted for a company for graphic design, occasionally helped out with events as well. They asked me if I was interested in a position and I initially said yes, I realized I would not be able to work on graphic design for this position so I backed out AFTER signing some paperwork and doing a drug test, I backed out before they got the drug tests paperwork, so I guess the position wasnt ‘official’ however I was ‘prorated’ (wording from the accountants email) a certain amount. Now that it’s tax time, I got my w9 and that pro-rated amount is on it. I thought I would be getting a w2 for it. I emailed them and he said ‘you rejected the employment status, so you never were an employee’ which… I accepted initially and then backed out sooo I don’t think he’s right. Anywho, not having to pay…
Am I being unreasonable?
I have a coworker who does pretty much the same thing I do. We can both work from home on occasion, and we share the workload between the two of us. Without being too specific as to the type of work, we do it in “parts”. Getting 4 parts done in an hour is a very reasonable average. I'm faster than her, and get more like 6 or 7 done in an hour. I don't expect her to keep up with me, but it's getting ridiculous how little she's getting done. We're talking not even 1 part in an hour, when working remotely. She doesn't have kids or random coworkers distracting her, and is doing almost nothing all day. It's not much better when in the office. Not only that, but the quality of work she's putting out is awful, so it's not like she's spending a long time getting…
Alternate Income
So, has anyone found a way to pay their expenses without being employed?
I’m not saying my job does this,, jus curious
company laptop but I was fired?
This is a follow-up on another post I have made here. Since asking my previous questions, I've been “fired” (lol) and am now being threatened for not giving up the password to the local admin account on the laptop I used. We were never given credentials to sign into a web browser to complete our work, so I had to use my personal. I do not want to give up the local admin password because she would then have access to my google drive and chrome that I was denied permission to sign out of before leaving. I have signed out from all devices and changed the password from my personal, but the thought is still scary based on the previous post. All of the company files are stored on a server so she still has access to all of her business files and I no longer have access to…
I work for a great company that has terrible leaders at certain locations. So when you find yourself being treated poorly, take the time to ask this question. If it’s a company, by all means get out of there. If it’s just a bad leader/manager check around at the other locations. I know I have taken in plenty of “bad” employees that have turned out to be great people that were treated badly.
I need some real world data here… My local news station is on this kick, particularly one reporter, that people don't want to work anymore. (Truthfully no one does…) I want to provide real world experiences to this reporter so that HOPEFULLY they'll consider doing a bit from the other side. Now I know there's a portion of people in here who are gonna bring up capitalism being bad, a portion who talk about the ultra rich being evil, a portion who just plain old don't want to work, a portion who hates money, and a portion who just want a living wage. This is NOT the post to complain and offer an opinion. The fact is, our current economic system is what it is. You need money to pay for the goods and services you need/want. And typically that requires having a job or owning a business. Something that…
After going to therapy, listening to friends, and going through community college… I don't understand why I need to hit myself trying to find a full-time job. I mean.. I have food and shelter with my parents right now, I've got no interest to be in a relationship, and I don't have any irl friends. Honestly, it sounds like getting better at my interest would be more worth my time than slaving away at a full-time job. I'll be miserable if I get one anyway, right? I've got a part-time job right now and I'm already miserable. Why not just use this time to focus on shit I like? Maybe I could make money doing it? I'd rather be mentally happy over wanting to kill myself every day.
