The Local drive in and their “employment conditions” for their teen/ minimum wage staff. Is confused why no one wants to work for them.

For those in corporate roles fortunate enough to invest in 401k or retirement plans, how do you grapple with the ethics of your investments?

I’ve realized over time that I hate work. I love my job and company, but I hate work. Societally, I want better worker rights, unionization, paid sick, maternity, paternity leave, etc. because that’s a fundamental level of human decency we should all be entitled to. However, my hate for work has also led to a very individual aspiration: the best way for me not to work is to be financially independent through safe investments to be self sufficient and not have to depend on employers for income. I therefore invest 70-80% of my paychecks (I work a high earning job, 6 figures that gives me the luxury to be able to do this and still have fun and pay for essential expenses, of which I’m incredibly fortunate) with the hope that I can retire early and do what I want with my life. However, I’ve realized that to do so…

Throwing money at the wrong people

I haven't seen this posted here, so apologies if it is. https://fortune.com/2022/02/11/banks-employee-compensation-rising-fast-great-resignation/ I find it unsurprising and an interesting spin on the narrative that the corporate dragons “side of the story” to the Great Resignation is “we're paying you enough, but you just won't stay!” Or at least that was my takeaway from the article. Remember this is a smoke screen, a distraction from something else like the ongoing work towards a Starbucks Union. My heart aches for those in shitty situations where you you're not treated or valued for your full worth. I'm sorry, but together and regardless of generation, or other dividing factor, we are the workers, our voice matters, and we must stand for each other. Be kind and hang in there knowing that others care are fighting for life to be more than eat-work-shit-sleep-repeat-die

Burnt Out and on a PiP

I've been at my company for 4 years and have gotten no sizable increase in salary or a promotion and have yet to take a legitimate vacation since I started the workforce when I graduated in 2014. I thought this was my dReAm JoB but I'm burnt out. I've had 4 supervisors since I started in 2017 being handed off to a new one more frequently than once a year until I landed my current supervisor around January 2020, obviously a really poor time to get a new supervisor as the world was months from shutting down. Not to mention with the change of supervisor, my old clients/ projects fell off the radar so I was doing entirely new work/ dealing with new projects right before the pandemic hit. In 2020 we were furloughed 20% and did not have a formal annual review period because of how weird everything was…

Employer is constantly lates with checks.

I’m in Utah, work for a bar that by all accounts does very well. But working here is the Wild West. Management is laughable. The owners are constantly blaming the “payroll” company for the fuck up and why we don’t get checks in on time every other month. The law states that they much may us within 24hrs of said date or they are responsible to pay us our wage everyday with or with out work until paid for 60 days. I can understand once or twice a YEAR, but every other month? Come on. I’m wondering if there are any ideas, labor laws anyone is aware of that we can take action for the constant tardiness of pay, or since they’re within the law, can they just fuck us around?

I just got invited to some kind of bizarre “record your own video answers” interview

so now I’m heatedly trying to find a way to speak to a real person and tell them how offensive it is to fill out an application and then have to parade around in front of my webcam like a monkey with a cymbal, talking to nothing, when supposedly they are interested in me. Dear Campfire, I applied on a whim, I don’t need this shit, it does not look tech-forward or edgy.

Got fired after 4 years working at a Hardee’s. Haven’t felt happier. (Vent post sorta)

Sorry for any grammer or spelling mistakes. I'm not the best with my words. So, I got fired the other day and it's been a rollercoaster of emotions for these couple days but, I'm genuinely excited now. I worked there for 4 years. Was the second job I've ever gotten and I genuinely loved my job. I loved the people I worked with and the regular customers will always mean the world to me. I almost regret it because I know that there are certain older customers who say they looked forward to seeing me every day and now they'll have to see that I couldn't take it anymore. I genuinely feel like I have a chance to be happy. The day after getting fired I already have a job interview set up. I think me slamming a door and not just “shutting the fuck up” like my GM told…

My company let vouchers for dinners in a fancy restaurant go to waste rather than give it to employees

Disclaimer, english is not my native language. So, the marketing team thought it would be a good idea to host a giveaway on the company's social media pages. 30 clients would win a dinner at one of the city's finest restaurants for Valentine's Day. Apparently everything goes great but last minutes 4 winners say they won't be able to do make it. By that time it was too late to get in touch with the people on the waiting list so the guys from marketing told the branch manager there were four tickets left and it could be great for morale to have a draw between employees. She just said no and let them go to waste instead. These were dinners that were already paid for by the company. She could've made 8 people's night for free and just chose not to because… she could… I guess?
