We live in a time when most teachers can barely survive on their own and now they have to pay for student supplies. Many teachers are considered state employees. Change needs to start at the top. Maybe we should pay those governors a teachers salary and maybe they will change their minds

Like the title says, I don't know what it's like or have ever experienced working one job. Ever since I started working, i've held about 2-3 jobs at a time. Even when I got myself a salaried PT job, i still had two side jobs I did. I recently found myself landing a decently paid job and I find myself unable to leave my current job in fear of the new one not being permanent. I don't have much else to say tbh, I just wanted to share this. I am exhausted.
I’m currently looking for another job, but still working with my current company. Long story short, I worked my ass off last year and only got a 3% raise – which is a pay cut. I have an interview Thursday for another job, but on the job application it says to list 3 references. All my references for my jobs with similar duties to the job I’m applying for are with my current company. My current company doesn’t know I’m looking for another job (thanks to this sub, at least not until I know I have a better job). I’m pretty new to professional jobs so my only professional experience is with my current company. Who should I put down as a reference? I’m kind of at a loss here.

Its everyting wrong with capitalism. A great company who turns in to a stockmarket driven company who only cares for its shareholders. Profits above quality, safety. Money, money, money that is what matters. You see this momument of a company turn in something its own workers hate.
Charging money to apply to government
End Psychopathic Corporate Regulations
There were recently some articles about how Maine has recovered X dollars for workers who had their pay withheld? What proportion of that is against the total amount stolen or withheld? 20% 30? My freakin employer (who no longer operates in the state) owes me 12,500 for work performed last summer. This work definitely gave me Lyme disease as well If he decides to go bankrupt we’re all screwed. So I what, pray? Light dog shit on fire on his porch in the night? [Maine Dept of Labor can’t do much, recommend a class-action] This BS being protected is why I live paycheck to paycheck, analyze the bank account before thinking about a Dr. visit. Our socio-political contract is so broken. End of rant. Any other stories of people loosing tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars? Make me feel better.
So in the end I took it to Fair Work Australia. Unfortunately they didn't want to do their proper jobs and decided to palm it off to a small claim courts which would have meant extra hoops to jump through. You can see it took them 10 days to even respond to me and their investigator happened to be conveniently on “leave” when I called. I went to leave it, then one afternoon my mother called me. Her house had gotten burnt down by a Human Rights Lawyer 6 years ago, and the Tasmanian legal system sat on the case, only to drop it due to the “MENTAL HEALTH” state of the accused. For me this was enough to enrage me to the point where I would launch a political career (I won't promote myself as its against community rules). Then I remembered, if elected, Senators are allowed under “PARLIAMENTARY…
I currently work as an entry level, software sales representative (SDR/BDR). I’ve been in the role for 2.5 years now, which is about 12 months longer than what I was told is the standard tenure. No worries, I enjoy the company, our direction and my coworkers. The actual work itself, not so much, but I’ve done well and have made myself into the top performer for our office. Well, the next role to move into would be account management, which I’ve had my sights set on since I joined this company. I’ve let everyone from my managers, coworkers, and friends know this was my goal. All have supported me and have told me I’d be the ideal candidate, and I’ve been patiently waiting for a position to open so that I can apply, and have said they’d take my professional development seriously and mentor me (haven’t heard from them since…
Refused to brainwash patients
I work as a behavioral health specialist in an adolescent mental hospital. We run groups and activities for them that range from karaoke to school work on a daily basis. Today the group I was supposed to run was “How to behave an dress for interviews.” The four page packet covered many tricks and tips on how to dress, how to groom yourself and what to say and what not to say. I flat out refused to do this group. Instead we spent 30 minutes talking about how the concept of “dream jobs” are bullshit and capitalist conditioning.
