2.5% annual pay increase
Today I found out my raise for this year is 2.5%. I’m leaving my current industry in six months. My sweet boss just thought that 2.5% was amazing and thought that with such a great raise I might want to reconsider leaving. The US inflation rate was reported at 7.5% in February. I’m sorry that I hurt your feelings by not jumping for joy, but when the company has reported record profits for 2 years….why is my pay not being increased to 2.5% ABOVE the rate of inflation? I’m not doing cartwheels that my pay is going to be more but still worth 5% less than it was worth last year at this time…
Next Chapter?
Just bombed an interview…
As the title says, just bombed an interview that pays almost double my current salary and would've gotten away from my current crappy job. My current boss is a lunatic. I'm a legal assistant and I work for a lawyer. She's awful. Completely unorganized and won't let me organize her practice so we can all shed some stress, rude and aggressive to me, gaslights me, changes her mind about things on the daily, etc. I've brought all this up with HR, and all I get is a “we'll look into it”. I'm suffering. My mental health is suffering. I dread going to work. I've been applying pretty much to every job that I come across and I had an interview for a great position. Which I completely bombed. My stress took over and I completely froze. So don't think I'm getting that job. Haven't heard from any other jobs I've…
I'm sorry if this is off topic, but I believe this is important. also, sorry for long post (and sorry if this seems kind of obvious, but I needed to get it out of my system). Amazon workers died in a warehouse because they were not allowed to leave. American companies would much rather see people die than pay them a liveable wage, American education would much rather see its teachers burn out and its students go into immense debt than not make huge profits. Same goes for American healthcare, you know what I mean. The sugar industry paid scientists to shift the blame from sugar to fat. Kellogg's still poisons people with sugar despite knowing it causes obesity, heart diseases and so on. Shell and Exxon paid scientists to discredit studies that showed climate change was happening, and are still trying to put the blame on individuals while promoting…
It really depends on the day but sometimes I’ll be bitten, hit, kicked, screamed at, have my hair or clothes pulled, or have my boobs touched. Can’t wear jewelry cause sometimes they’ll pull you by the necklace/earrings. Sometimes I dream about being a secretary in an air conditioned room, but the job perks, good bosses, and the savings I’m able to put away keep me coming back. I guess I’m a masochist for pain $19.50/hr by the way, minimum wage is $7.25 I put away like $600/mo
Donut eat those!
I once had an owner of a shop I worked at bring in donuts for everyone. There were 2 owners of this shop. The other owner came out and told us not eat them because they were found next to the dumpster of a local donut shop.
So like an hour ago I got this text message. “I'm really disappointed in you do I neew to tell you why? Or you could send me your hours and we won't have to talk ever again. You won't work here no more” Was working for a catering company. Always different hours so I told him I'm looking for a permanent work. This december I was feeling a bit stressed becouse we always run out of time (aka the foods not done in time so can't deliver it in time to the customer) So then in januari I was not allowed to work for 2 days but they did still pay me. I asked why he said you hade some complained and I said whats complains. “we don't have to talk about it but I will go trough some new rules whit you” After that everything went back to normal…
Pretty much the title. The position I’m in is currently hiring for more of my exact position. However, they’re offering these new hires remote work. They claimed no one was applying, but once they added remote, they had way more applicants. So now people will be doing the same job as me, but from home. I was never offered a work from home option and neither were my other coworkers. So if I quit and reapply for my same job now I’d get to work remotely? Is this a normal thing companies are doing now?
My boss made an unfortunate joke…
I work in landscaping and my boss was planning on hiring another worker. He hasn’t yet and when I asked him when he will he jokingly said I can’t find anyone who will work for as low a wage as you. I currently make $25 an hour. Should I be asking for a higher wage/should I quit? It hurt knowing my boss (who has his own house and multiple cars) would joke about my financial situation that he literally is the reason for while I’m struggling to pay rent and have thousands in debt. Am I overreacting?
