Over the past few years I have, through working my ass off, acquired a skill that, although not much in demand, nonetheless gets me a steady-ish flow of freelance work (I earn very little overall, but the per-hour rate is now very good). I've been trying to get a full-time job (I want the security etc, especially as my partner and I want to start a family), but I'm not willing to compromise on pay. I know what my time is worth. I went through an extended interview process with a company that I know is very large and has a lot of money. The job required a specific skill-set and was highly creative and difficult work. I could see that the average salary for that job in that country was very high. At the end they finally offered me a job, but low-balled me heavily on the salary. I…

Wobbly Wednesday – Battle of Bisbee Az
Welcome to Wobbly Wednesday! Where we talk about the IWW and encourage you to sign up and organize. iww.org Let's talk history, not quite ancient, but the type they didn't teach in schools.Like how local law enforcement would lynch black soldiers if they wanted. And how in 1919 they tried to do so in Bisbee, AZ and failed because the IWW tipped them off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vj6TdMuuyJs&ab_channel=InRangeTV We bring this up because the struggle for workers rights has always, and will continue to be, united with other struggles. If only 10% of our userbase joins the IWW, that will be 170000 newly minted organizers. If you are wondering what to do next, where to start, the IWW is one way to go. An injury to one is an injury to all!

I am an economist, I make video essays against capitalism. I am trying to reach out outside YT to new potential viewers, as there aren’t much alternatives for this on capitalist YT. Please take a look at my channel, and if you find value please SUBSCRIBE. I am also very open to advice, criticism, and community building. Thank you, brothers and sisters in spirit! I am self employed in a trade style job and I love the freedom I have. It was hard at the beginning teaching myself everything and it’s not easy work at all I basically dig in the dirt all day but I still get fulfillment out of it. Do people in this sub have their anti work attitude because of issues with bosses or is it because they feel like they aren’t contributing to the advancement of society or is it something else or a mix of all. I’d like to hear y’all’s stories
I received a job offer but because I don’t have the experience on a specific software they use, I can’t get paid more than the lowest they offer for the position. I’m more than qualified for everything else except for that software. But when I get the experience, I won’t be paid more. I’ll still be paid the lowest offer. I need someone else’s perspective on this. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
I thought this would fit here….
What should I do?
I'm 19 and this is my second job. I work at a gas station, I originally worked evening shifts and was part-time but our overnight guy quit and they asked me to work his schedule instead. I agreed since Im a night owl so working at night was great, until now that they turned me into a full time worker, I never agreed to that and so I asked about just doing the 3 overnights and staying part time and they said no. I don't like confrontation since I always cross the line on what I say and my store manager acts like a teenager, I have felt like quitting but I can't seem to find another job that I'm willing to work until about 9 more weeks, I need help, what should I do? Tl:dr I got moved to full time and my boss is a baby and I…
Rejoice Trades Jobs.
I was always different as a kid. I saw the world for what it was and as I started to grow up I noticed that my parents struggled working 9 to 5 jobs both having college degrees but still not being able to get by. I didn’t work until I was about 24, because I said “what’s the point if I’m just gonna struggle like my parents did”. Eventually I talked to one of my friends who got into the trades. He was making great money, running jobsites and was pretty much is his own boss. The beautiful thing about a trade is no matter how different or how many charges or what other people think of you no one can ever take that skill away from you. Last year I started my own electrical company and I work for my wife’s tree service. Ever since I went out on…
This is the way.
