Wife’s boss requesting her to make up days on her normally scheduled days off? Among other questionable things…

Need some advice, Reddit. My wife has been working for her current employer for about 3 months now. The boss, while a seemingly nice lady, has some pretty shitty business practices. The current problem, is that my wife is feeling extremely burnt out due to her job and a series of negative events that have come up in our lives. So, she took today off to rest and recharge. The boss said something along the lines that she's sorry she's not feeling well and to get better soon, but then sends a text basically saying that she “generally asks that employees make up a day, to give clients the option to reschedule.” She then asked if my wife could come in on Wednesday or Saturday, which is her normal scheduled days off. This would seriously defeat the whole reason she's taking a day off, as then she would have to…

This sub is the best employee resource

I wish this sub had existed when I was fired from a former employer (a multi-billion dollar company). Despite having witnesses who could attest to their discrimination towards me, the courts wouldn't accept their testimony. If I had recorded any of the conversations I had with HR, in a one party state, there would have been indisputable proof of their discrimination and retaliation against me. This sub is teaching employees how to protect themselves from corporations that don't give a shit about them. It is high time we realize the closest we'll get to finding “family” in the workplace is through a union, unless we count abusive relatives as family. Every time I see a post detailing a bullshit situation from a dejected person, followed by an update from the person describing how they're now fighting back, I'm filled with hope.

It’s amazing how little anyone cares about the workers.

My ex-manager got fired!

I used to work at a small store, and the manager I reported to was a manipulative, emotionally abusive ass hole. I didn’t realize at first how many people disliked them and it took me way too long to realize they were horrible. In celebration of them getting let go here’s just a few things they did in my short time working together: let’s call this person “Steve” Tried guilting me into changing my plans for a family vacation because Steve wanted to take off at the same time. My request had been in for 3 months. Once told me that a customer was so fat that they made me look skinny Was always completely uninterested in anything I had to say when it came to my interests, such as music, tv, etc. but would get mad when me or other people didn’t care to hear them talk about their…

My Employer has rescheduled my Annual Performance Review 7 times over the past 5 weeks

Title says it all. My performance review was originally set for early January but the past weeks it has been postponed several times. I have severe anxiety over my performance reviews ever since I was laid off in another job in 2018 and after 5 weeks of this its starting to give me physical sickness. I was raised in an authoritative house where failure isn’t an option and so the smallest amount of failure sends me into a severe depression. I’ve had mental breakdowns for being asked to leave a baseball gift shop because I loosely tossed a ball inside it when I was 10. Back to my review being postponed. Originally it was postponed because we got a new VP so he wanted to see/review everything. Sure fine. Then it was postponed another week. Unknown reason. Then postponed 2 weeks. Unknown reason. Then postponed a week because my manager…

72% of surveyed CEOs are concerned about their job security

An interesting read that essentially says that CEOs have been sitting back & doing nothing for the past 2 years, watching profits sore, planning on life returning to normal. But the Great Reshuffling and resistance of “return to work” has them realizing that business models need to change, and now they don't know what to do. Boo-fucking-hoo. https://www.axios.com/ceos-worried-job-security-2022-6663d8a7-c42e-48a3-b4a8-ce6f88e7b13b.html

We live in a time with alot of problems, so the goal is to become rich so the problems rather dont apply to you because they cannot be solved.

There are alot of problems in our society, like with the housing market, food, rent and more. We can not solve theese problems by ourselves and protesting has shown that it doesnt help. Theese problems cannot be solved and wont be, and inflation just keeps rising and making things worse and worse. So in the end of the day you just want to become rich enough so that theese problems and other problems in society wont apply to you anymore. I feel like this is a harsch reality and with more and more people becoming wealthy this is something alot aspire to. Sadly we cant all be rich, and therefor have to deal with the problems. Theese are just my thoughts and feeling.

I’m Done

A rant I don’t know where else to throw into the universe. I can’t do it anymore. I can’t go to bed every night wondering if I’ll be good enough for my client and bosses anymore. I can’t get praised and a good annual review on Friday just to be treated like I don’t know what I’ve been doing for the past ten years the following Tuesday. I can’t spend my days “off” dreading and counting the hours until I have to be on for them again. I had to up my antidepressants three months ago, I have an ulcer now, I’m constantly tired and on edge. Fuck this shit. Fuck it all into the deepest of the depths of hell.
