Accepted offer but still on hold

So I accepted a job offer with a large company who have major clients in a certain industry. Fast forward, I accept the job offer last month and complete all documentation, including drug tests, references, etc., only to be told I have to interview with their clients before I can start. Now this would have been fine if the interview was done prior to the job offer. Further, it’s been a month since I accepted the offer and I’m not sure when they plan to do the client interview. The whole process stinks of keeping me on hold, till what works best for them. In the meantime, I’m waiting here stuck in a job I don’t want to work in.

Let’s talk about jobs with a commission.

I see everyday people here and around me struggling to make ends meet even if they have a degree because they can't find jobs that pay more than 20/ hr. Let me introduce you to the world of commission pay. Depending on the job your salary can be 30-90k a year and will give you bonuses on top of that based on how much you sell. This way the harder you work, the more it benefits YOU rather than it only benefits the company that you work for. If you only want to do the bare minimum, thats fine you will make a similar amount to now and probably a bit more; however, the more you work(optional not forced) the more you can make for yourself. The top three that I can think of are real estate agents, traveling salesmen, and the hidden gem -> dental sales. Dental sales is…

Advice on raise discussion

For context, I am extremely timid and hate asking for things like this and never have, so if anyone has tips on how to word it super delicately it would be much appreciated. Also, I have a great relationship with all of my bosses and I love working at this company and my job. There’s really nothing else wrong with it except for this very discouraging raise. I just found out that I received a 1.9% raise over last year compared to a 2% raise that I received the year before. Granted, the CEO did just talk about how cost-of-living adjustments were not going to be likely to match the market, but I wasn’t least expecting the same if not slightly better than last year. How can I politely request a slightly higher raise given that I know I will never actually leave if they don’t give it to me?…

The issue is HOUSING

Look I’m as leftie as anyone else but our primary issue is housing. Landlords, corporate investors and others of the sort are causing massive disruption in our financial security. We say that min wage should be $22~ per hour.. WHY? Cost of LIVING. If it was $10 and that bought you a 1br place, food and healthcare and covered your expenses who cares? It’s all relative. While we should be focused on improving working conditions AND raising pay while these companies post record profits, the focus should be on lowering housing costs to the point it doesn’t matter what job you do, you have a place to live. Not this “hurrrr get bunk beds with 4 friends so u can survive hurhurrr” End corporate investments in housing, ban multiple homeownership and increase my fucking pay.

Company Email

My 1st post ever, and I need to rant. I work for this global company for 2 years. I make $15 per hour. This morning I “kind of asked” of raise: ME: Good Morning Mr. G……m As you can see my name is “name:, and I am ……….. …………. working for ………… for almost 2 years. I gather that you are the person who is in charge/responsible for pay grade, raises and so on. Please let me know if you are the right person to talk about or there is someone else. Thank you for reading my email THEM/HIM: Yes :name” you reached the right person.  Unfortunately, we do not currently offer periodic, cost of living, level or video advancement rate increases. Our compensation is set globally by load of work (not individually) each year based on business needs and market conditions, and there are no rate increases in…

I’ve been out if work for 6 months and I dread going back.

I'm not afraid of actually doing work. It's the management I dread. The constant social relations and “staying on their good side” when 90% of the time I know more than they do. It's the constant fear that they will stop liking me and take away my meager livelihood as well. I usually start out pretty well, but the longer I stay the more they start to hate me. This has happened more than 20 times in 25 years. I always do great work, only to get underpaid, disrespected, and eventually fired. I've examined this many times and tried to adjust my personality to suit, but it always ends up like this. All I want to do is work and be left alone to (almost) pay all of my bills. But this society won't even let me do that. I've developed an unhealthy anxiety about this like so many others,…

Will a mass call off day get us fired?

I so admire the spirit of this group and the people who walk off. I’m jealous of this because not working is definitely not an option for me. Long story short I am a nurse in a hospital with an incredibly weak union. Our health system is under fire from the state and as they say shit rolls down hill. Management has been making our lives absolutely miserable. Anyway, a bunch of the nursing staff and I are planning on all calling off on the same day. We are pissed and want to get our message across but also can’t afford to lose our jobs at the moment. Will a mass call off (not a strike) get us all fired? Our plan was to say we were all sick. Not sure what they can do about that. Thank you sisters and brothers in arms.
