Get a job
Author: Olivia
Hello fellow comrades -^ Had my fair share of bad working experiences. However one really took the top spot. During college I was working at a local bakery in my German hometown. After a BBQ I felt really sick and had to leave work early. After a visit to the doctor I got a letter from the German Health Department. It read that I was infected with Campylobacter, a highly contagious bacteria infection stemming from undercooked chicken. I was blacklisted from working in food related jobs until I got too negative test results in a row (while fully paid gladly). If you are really unlucky you can become a „permanent secreter“ which means that you banned for life working in food related industries. I was lucky and had to stay at home for only 2 weeks. However 1 and a half weeks into my quarantine my manager messaged me and…
My vote is for sale
(EDIT: Just to head it off — What does this have to do with Antiwork? Honest. If, after reading it, you can't answer that, you ask for an explanation. And I'll go through it line by line.) Going by 40-odd years of politics, it doesn't really matter whether it's a democrat or a Republican in the White House — I get screwed either way. The Republicans are going to win the midterms and that means they're going to win in 2024 because Biden's entire presidency so far has been a shitshow, but once the Republicans regain the Senate (and probably the House), it'll make this first year look like a loving kiss from a doting parent. The democrats, as usual, seem to have no idea how to win. So I'm making it simple for them: If you give me what I want, BEFORE the midterms — no, not after; I…

I am curious to see what people believe are the main issues with this Sub & changes they think may benefit it.
What’s a 5 Star review worth?
Online reviews can make or break tour companies. The more 5 star reviews a biz has, the more likely ppl will book with them. Good reviews are an invaluable source for future business. I worked for a tour company that would “reward” their employees for every 5 star review that mentioned their name with handmade scratch and win tickets. Assuming you got a winner, you’d be rewarded with $10 gift certificates to random places; Dunkin’s, Starbucks, Apple, REI, jersey Mike’s. I had earned over 100 scratch and wins tickets. Only 4 of those 100 ended up being winners. Basically 1 in 25. I wonder how much future business the tour company will generate from my 100+ five star reviews. The way management rewarded me, each effort on my part was only worth a 40 cent bonus.
Fuck Bluestone Lane, Fuck Nick Stone
Bluestone Lane is an overpriced cafe founded by millionaire brat Nick Stone. When I say overpriced I mean $15 for avocado toast. Nick Stone flaunts his wealth, the company’s billionaire investors and record setting sales but on March 1st all baristas will be getting a pay cut. Currently cafe baristas receive guaranteed minimum of $22 per hour, made up of $14 an hour base pay, tips and then an additional top up to reach 22. Similarly, coffee shop baristas (who have more responsibility than cafe ones) make guaranteed $20 per hour with a base of $16. It was recently discovered that corporate and management has been hiding the fact that they will be changing the pay to remove all guarantees and lowering the base pay of cafe baristas to ELEVEN DOLLARS AN HOUR. Our customers are majority privileged and wealthy, so they tip like shit. We will likely not make…
Does this give off Coexist vibes?
There's not much to this one. I've made some posts before. I am a “teacher” preschool is almost always a learning center/daycare in this area. I injured my sciatica really bad about 2 months ago now and have been going to physical therapy. I'm getting better, my doc will do nothing for short term disability papers and insists I am able and available for work. I won't get anything in unemployment I've checked. So I sent out my applications, I cast a pretty big net and begrudgingly included the learning center next door as I have experience and a job is better than none. It's listed at minimum wage with benefits but I will likely ask for 2-3$ more as I have been doing this 5+ years. I just … Really didn't wanna do this again. See I love working with kids and being a positive role model like the…
