The long term monogomous relationship ideal that is beaten onto childrens' and adults' lives is not realistic or healthy in many cases. I truly believe that all of this barbie and ken doll garbage that is forced down peoples' throats from a young age is just to keep people from leaving jobs as soon as the pain outweighs the gain. We're told to stick it out even when it sucks because of company loyalty, to not have other means of income without asking your employer first, to give till you're sick without getting much back. The truth is that people should leave any relationship that turns sour, especially a job which should never be personal. But what are people told constantly? We're a family here. That's to set you up for the sick dysfunction and patriarchal bullshit that is the work culture at some places. I think they psychologically strive…

I've noticed a harsh shift in recent weeks, a large uptick in posters who make 60k+ demanding more benefits for themselves, while ignoring the plight of the blue collar workers beneath them barely making even the slightest of living. Another poster recently spoke up about this. They ended up editing the full post and turning off notifs due to backlash from the white collar side of things. https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/sxa9lz/having_a_decent_life_where_you_buy_a_home_start_a/ I get it. You feel like you need more. You went to college, spent the money. Great. But we need to fight together. This cannot be done only on one side. It will create more of the same. Fight for us, and we'll fight for you. Divided, we will both fail, and this shit will continue. Stop separating, start working together. That's what they want, for us to fucking crumble.
I’m pretty much being forced into the defense industry. No place has gotten back to me after 20 applications to companies that don’t directly contribute to a large amount of human suffering. I don’t want to work on military aircraft or weapons systems fuck man. NASA was the first place I applied to after I graduated and I still haven’t heard anything yet even from them. I put so much work into a portfolio and cover letters and references only to get ghosted. Sorry for the rant .
27) Is an employer required to provide the pay scale for an open position to an applicant for that position? Pursuant to Labor Code section 432.3, upon reasonable request, an employer shall provide the pay scale for a position to an applicant applying for employment. Recent amendments define a reasonable request as one made after an applicant has completed an initial interview with the employer. Source
I work at Lowes as a fulfillment associate and I am getting paid $13.56/hour. After a couple days of asking everyone about their pay I found out I am getting paid between $1 and $2 less.
After almost 6 months of working with a horrible fucking boss, I’ll be handing in my resignation letter today. I’ve been secretly planning to leave and she has no idea at all. Of course, I plan to be gracious when I let her know that I’m leaving but I am honestly scared of her response. Most importantly, I have a one month notice period in my contract and I am planning to offset it with my annual leave which may be blocked by this cunning bitch. Any resignation stories to share? How did you guys do it / handle your boss’ reaction? Was it awkward with your co-workers afterwards?
So I got an amazing job offer the other day and I accepted. My current job doesn't know yet, because I want to get my yearly bonus before I leave because it'll be to the tune of like 10k after taxes, and it was for the work I did in 2021 so I earned it. I start at my new company the end of March, and my bonus comes mid March, leaving enough time for me to only give them a weeks notice, and I literally have to give my notice the day I get my bonus or else I won't be able to give them even a week. I looked in our employee handbook and I don't see anything that says I have to be with the company a certain amount of time after the bonus, but I'm fairly certain if I give them notice before I get the…
Since names are changed to protect the innocent (read: cover my ass) my boss is named Ted. Ted, When someone on the team reminded the rest of us on Friday that Monday is a paid holiday you took the opportunity to guilt us into working on the upcoming trade show demo by saying that is what you will be doing and told us all that these trade show dates are fixed in time. A trade show the company has rushed into and poorly prepared for and a demo which barely does what it's supposed to and is only tangentially related to the show itself. Let me put it into perspective for you Ted. It's summer and you're outside in your beautiful yard with your beautiful family at your beautiful house on the beautiful golf course and a wayward golf ball strikes you in the head, knocking you out and you…
Received an offer from two different retailers. Took the one that was $5 an hour more. When I declined the other position they tried to convince me that their business was more of a family. Such a tough decision lol.
