Let me explain, OP mentions that he/she is not being paid/treated/ well, or is overworked at their current job. Top comment most times says to start applying elsewhere (valid advice). Then, seemingly every reply states “I did that and now I make 2x my salary,” or “I was just hired somewhere new in less than a week where I received a 10k sign on bonus! I've never been able to just switch jobs that quickly, and definitely not find one so easily that pays significantly more than the last (oil and gas). Are people just BS'ing? Or is that actually common for most employees right now? It's just frustrating seeing the same comment over and over again, post after post. Anyone else noticing this? Thanks for reading
I think it’s fair…
I work in a grocery store. When I go on break, I get food at the in-store Cafe. Management has been making that dept a living hell for workers and nobody wants to work there, so they're short staffed to boot and getting food takes a long time. So I refuse to clock out until after I get my food. The store manager says it would be just like if I left work and drove to McDonald's. I said, 'you're right, you should pay me for that too.'
Astro Boy, late 60s
I quit today
My company was acquired back in November. Prior to, I worked in one location but this rapidly changed once acquired. I expressed my concerns over traveling far distances especially since I had previous ongoing commitments. They were informed on multiple locations; but did not comply ; therefore, I gave my notice today!! It started when My manager was upset I called off for going to the ER for an allergic reaction. I told them this was not an ideal work environment. Sanctioning someone over an emergency!? Fuck that place.
Like, even if my job was getting blowjobs and doing cocaine, I wouldn't want to do it for 12 hours straight. Most service jobs require you to do double shifts back-to-back on Saturdays and Sundays. Fuck right off. It's almost like employers are actively trying to crush your soul with that shit. Especially if you're making a shit wage and not given enough hours to qualify for health insurance.
I just completely lost my shit
I think it’s been building up for a while but I just raged in a way I’ve never raged before. Scared the shit out of my wife. I was in my basement well away from everyone and I can’t even remember what set me off first. It was clearly audible because everyone is walking on egg shells now. Part of the fallout resulted in a damaged — no, destroyed — computer monitor; it’s like 6 years old and refurbished in the first place but it isn’t mine, it’s my companies. I’ve been interviewing for weeks now, mind is completely fucking pancake batter from coding in one language all day for my job and interviewing in another because I just about can’t stand writing C# and I need to get back to iOS and/or Android work. Additionally, the industry I’m in has sucked the life out of me. I accepted an…
I am so pissed and am trying to just wrap my head around everything that happened today, please excuse my rant. I went to my manager (has been remote and when you try to reach her mia) she has been semi-present for a few months) to ask a question and long story short the conversation went well until the very end when I was about to leave. She told me that we need to have a sit down with the owner. I have been with company for 2.5 years and he has been present maybe 5 times (body, not mind) (nobody cares about your wife Jennifer) currently in Florida vacationing, told us all about how he works so hard, even when he is in Florida he works till noon. Work ethic is important that’s what his Dad taught him when he took over the company and everyone needs to be…
Naming and shaming – WorkBoard
If you're currently job hunting, you may come across WorkBoard. They pay pretty well, they're hiring a ton of web developers, and have been making some waves lately, so they may come up. WorkBoard is a dishonest, manipulative firm that is not to be trusted. They do not treat their candidates with respect and they're not worth your time. Without going into too much detail, they rescinded an offer almost a week after the offer had been made and accepted. Compensation was negotiated, and I was assured that the job was a done deal on numerous occasions. Only after resigning my current job did they withdraw the offer, citing budgetary reasons, leaving me unemployed. I was foolish to trust them, which was my mistake. I learned my lesson. But, at the same time, I was directly lied to numerous times throughout the process. I decided that the least I could…
