I was doing research on careers, on of them was a politician, and I found this GEM (This only applies in the US, but…) To be eligible for registration a party must have at least 750 members (100 for a local government party) supported by Declaration of Party Membership forms with member details that match those included on the electoral roll.

Should I quit the grind of 9-5?
The answer is yes but I just need your support, my fellow antiwork friends. From 2011-2020 I was in a homegrown business with my mother, doing Face Painting, Animal Balloons, Childrens activities, and even did costumes for holidays! It was the only job where you rarely ever see a frown. The atmosphere was always bright, cheery, and you got to explore around the state as you were hired for new events, weddings, fairs, birthdays, you name it! I had artistic skills I was building in all sorts of media, including digital, which I sell now due to covid abruptly killing our business. (It was slowly dying anyways) Ever since the business died, and I moved to a new state, I got my first real jobs…the 9-5 grind. And oh my god I hate it. It hurts my body, I have no skills to apply for better paying jobs so I…
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/feb/13/us-tipping-restaurants-wages So I just read this crap article in the gaurdian about how apparently the numbers don't lie and no tipping policies hurts employees. It's the most neo liberal crap I've read in a while. The summary is basically that no tipping policies hurt waiters because restaurants can't raise wages high enough to pay waiters enough to make up for a lost in tipping. However they then pivot to say that the reason for this is because tipping is entrepreneurial. The reason America has a tipping culture is that we are uniquely entrepreneurial. It's crap. The reason we have a tipping culture is that it allows businesses to obscure the actual cost of the service, meal or product. These businesses rely on people not taking into account the tip when selecting a service. So when they take away tipping they are forced to be more upfront about the pricing. This…
A damn animal is more important
I’m covid positive and I’m a teacher
I'm covid positive and have been on leave for a week now. I took my second test yesterday and awaiting results. I'm a teacher, I work at an elementary school. They told me I didn't need to get a negative result to return to work, just fever free. Honestly, I find this morally stupid. There are already over 132 kids and 2 teachers out wth covid and the school only has 580 kids, it's not very big. Like, I don't want to continue to spread this deadly disease to babies or bring it back home to my family! Yes, I'm vaccinated. And it didn't do me fun catching it. The symptoms I'm dealing with are keeping me confined to my bed! But they want me to return to work because I no longer have a fever. Unreal. Just wanted to vent.
I had a meeting with my manager after getting Covid and getting the (wonderfully generous /s) 3 days off. I'm back at work and he pulls me off calls to tell me that because I called out I forfeit any bonus I could have earned this pay period. This job gets around paying more by giving “bonuses” based on your metrics. He then also gets after me for not doing good enough on calls. I tell him I've literally been fighting Covid and I'm also bipolar so it's fairly rough. He tells me to remember that this is a job and I need to just deal with it. I was so close to telling him to fuck off and walk out. If I wasn't the only source of income for my family I absolutely would have. As it was I essentially got in his face and called him a corporate…
When you're being interviewed for a job always ask “what happened to the last person?” It's a great way to catch the interviewer off guard because a) they rarely expect challenging questions and b) least of all this one. Meaning, it's not usually a question they'll have a rehearsed answer for. Which usually means, you'll be able to easily interpret the answer. You'll be able to interpret how long it takes them to answer, what they say in their answer and how they answer. Length of time to answer: a good employer should know straight away and not be searching for a palatable reason. What they say: this one is obvious, but can be subtle such as “why do you ask”. This typically shows that they don't quite understand why previous employee relationships or turnover are important factors How they say it: because you've asked them a question they typically…
This is going to be a long one. I'm on mobile TL;DR- I was accused of many things with no evidence, I demanded the evidence that had to be provided. Corp lady threatens to fire me so I go to HR, and find out I have actually been targeted for reasons I was not told. Corporate Policies listed at end. Background: I am “Young” for my field (6 years between myself and the next person) and I am a trans man who has been on T for 9 months, but still look very gender neutral (which people assume is female). I have been here for 6 months where as everyone else here has been here for 2-13 years. My Office manager got fired without any word one day, so our Corporate Office Coordinator has been substituting. We have 4 daily workers, with 8 rotating doctors who bring 1 technician with…
Behind every successful person there are hundreds, possibly even thousands or millions, of people who supported them. These supports are family, friends, customers, employees, fans, voters, stockholders, tax payers (think corporate welfare), etc., who all contributed to making this one individual's dream come true. Yet even after these people — often men — have gained their money, status, and power, we further bestow upon them the bullshit title of “Self-made man”. We put people like Elon, Bezos, Obama, Trump, Pitt and DiCaprio on little pedestals to be admired and adored for their innate greatness. What do you think about society hero worshiping people who have attained (or were born into) money, status, and power?
