I do project based work for a private company, they are offering me to either get paid a base amount “B” dollars every month plus 150-200 dollars project bonus upon completing my project within that month OR a base amount “B + 150 dollars” and no bonuses. But here is the catch, they also promoted me to a lead position of a small team but the team has no experience so most of my time at work is spent teaching and i have less time to complete my project. If i dont complete that project at the end of the month i wont get the bonus. There is a chsnce that i complete multiple projects on that month and get multiple bonuses. I’ve worked here for 5 years and can’t get a raise past $14.70. I’ve only gotten a $.70 raise in the past five years. I can’t quit because I’ve got a surgery coming up and I can’t lose my insurance. I wish we could strike to get raises, but idk how to organize something like that… Does anyone know of any call centers that have unionized or striked for raises?
Calling in sick to work
I have to call in sick to work today and it’s ridiculous how incredibly anxious I feel about doing this. I never ever call in sick for my jobs, and I usually push through. However, I feel so sick and also sick with anxiety because I have a million things happening this week, and especially with COVID I don’t know why I’m so scared to put myself first. It’s a new retail job and I only work a couple of shifts a week, but I’m supposed to close and I know they’ll have trouble finding someone to come in. I’m also located in an area in Canada with a major trucker convoy protest happening, and there’s been numerous incidents at my workplace, so I’m also scared to go in for that reason. I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, I just think it’s so strange…
Trying to gauge a general idea of when everyone thinks this is going to happen. What is astounding too me is that people can have a freedom convoy against vaccine mandates, but for whatever the reason, the same can't be applied to making housing affordable, fighting for a living wage, greater vacation hours, and a 4 day work week (for starters). The conversation has been generating for awhile, with an estimated 1.7 subscribers and an additional amount that aren't subscribed lurking. Do we think its actually going to happen at some point? When of course all ideas discussed here won't be supported by either party (I'm using America as the example), and will be considered radical left concepts.

I just received a call from a job placement service that I do not subscribe to. They claimed I had been visiting multiple jobs listing sites. This part is a bit of a red flag. I assume they gleaned my phone number from my resume which is posted on several job boards. I asked who the business was and they elaborated on their operation, but didn't really answer my question of who? So they asked a couple of preliminary questions including “what salary range are you looking for” I responded with a reasonable $25/hr minimum and their response was “you don't want to limit yourself by negotiating too high or too low, (something about shooting yourself in the foot before you get in the door) the pay scale will be set by the hiring manager” and I responded with “then why did you ask?” and the call was disconnected. Wtf is going on?
I work for a global company that makes a shit ton of money. A lot of that money comes from my org. Last week, they said our SVP was going on “special assignment”, but wouldn’t tell anyone what that meant. Now, we just received an email about a voluntary separation program (even though we just had so many people quit they’re scrambling to find resources to do jobs). I’m getting pretty concerned here, does anyone have experience with this happening at their company and what happened afterward? I will say that the more shit like this they pull the less and less fucks I give about “going above and beyond”

So I work at a news station, and our news director (basically our manager) decided that the newscast directors are no longer getting overtime, so whenever w have to fill in instead of getting like 5-8 hours of OT my manager docks our hours throughout the week so it comes out to 6 days a week with no OT. Is this legal or just shitty? The real kicker is our photographers are allowed to get as much OT as they want. Do I have any options? Edit: this is in south Florida
Requesting for time off gave me anxiety
I was super anxious and I was expecting to be chastised about it, or maybe some kind of conflict from my boss. None of that happened, and this is in my new job. They told me that there's no rush at all to do the projects assigned, and to have a good rest. So that's what it's like to be working for a good company. I like this.
Negotiating Pay
Don't be afraid to ask for more money. I have been interviewing and know my worth. I was offered a part time position, which is fine, but the pay was $16 per hour. I messaged back how with my experience I would be happy to negotiate a higher pay. I didn't hear back for a week. Then I get another message with an offer of $18 per hour. I just replied how I've been actively interviewing and am pending a call back for a full time position and would let her know tomorrow. Funny how she came up with an extra $2 per hour…anyways don't ever be afraid to try and negotiate pay especially if you have the experience to back up the reason why you're asking for more. $18 isn't enough.
