Saw a post that reminded me of this experience when I was trying to prepare to move states with my partner a few years back, and my partner is starting to experience now. My (24f) partner (24m) and I moved from one state to another in July of 2021 after graduating college. He was accepted to a masters program and the new town had a lot more opportunities for me than the old town so I decided to move with him. I wanted to be prepared and have a job set up for after we moved so I started applying maybe 2-3 months before we anticipated moving. And let me tell you, applying for jobs in a different state, even with giving an explanation that you’re moving to that area on a set date is impossible. I would write in the application and cover letter than I was moving to…

Fourth time – March 2nd, 2 minutes late, missed exit on highway I was on time or early for every shift between January 13th and February 27th. I have a documented history of ADHD, Depression and social anxiety that sometimes affects my ability to get to work on time, and could easily provide if needed Potentially related, My manager also was unprofessional,…
I am a bookkeeper. I started at this company I work for in November. The other day a client that is not mine had ask for their bill for filing 1099s. My manager who I’ll call Tom, decided to CC me on the email. The client has two different companies and my manager sent him the wrong bill for the company. So instead of sending him the correct bill he decides to say “ My apologies for this confusion, Sarah (me) our new bookkeeper was doing training for bookkeeping billing and made a mistake. This is just an honest mistake, and we will fix it here shortly” So then he realizes that it was his fault and sends a follow up email saying “ Team, I feel like I need to apologize. Upon further review is that is is a bill for Real estate group and not a commercial group.…
New System Must reapply for job.
So the company I work for is upgrading its outdated transportation software. Everyone beside management will be put into a workplace hunger game. Department consolidation and getting rid of overplayed staff is basically the just of it. They would not tell us when the change would occur or if we would have to take pay cuts. I've never hit apply on so many new jobs in my life. The whole mood has changed in the building among non management. I don't see this playing out well.
Private Investigators cost about 500-1000 dollars per day. Recording equipment can cost thousands of dollars. One method used by private investigators is to collect ecidence illegally, and then they know what eveidence to collect legally, or what issues to pursue. Workers should find out what they can legally record and collect in the work place. And collect recordings out of habit, not before something happens. Often you made not know an employment law has been broken until after the fact.
Read the community rules and believe I fall in line, but apologies in advance if I flubbed. I currently work as an underwriter for an incredibly, incredibly niche insurance market desperate for workers with an inkling of knowledge in my area which I had (
Employer changed PTO policy.
I work at a small business with three employees, including myself. Without any signed documentation acknowledging any change to the PTO policy, employer has stated that due to scheduling issues last summer due to people taking long weekends off for weddings and other summer events all PTO must be taken in one stretch AKA in one week. Employer is stating this is to avoid scheduling conflicts and people piecemealing days off. We only get 5 days of PTO a year, which resets on the first of the year. Employer said this change was made last year. They're asking what week I would like off this year. I won't go into huge detail, but this is something I have never had to deal before at any job and it's definitely the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I'm going to start looking for a different place to work because…
Commercial Real estate is crashing
Commercial real estate is crashing, this is why they want a mandated return to office. Its awesome in that sense. However, it does affect mortgage rates and the government is increasing them across all real estate industries. It does force house prices down. What are your thoughts? You think we will be able to afford a home in a year or two? Is the beginning of the next financial crisis (similar to 2008)? Open to all perspectives, opinions, theories, and/or speculations.
I’m a lazy bastard
I just can't get myself to do overtime on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Where I work, overtime is time and a half as well as Saturdays. Sundays are double time. Yet I never said yes to overtime on those days. I'm single and in my late 20s. Many people say now is the time to be grinding so that when I'm older, I won't have to work as hard but I enjoy my free time too much. I don't mind doing overtime Mon-Thurs though, I've never turned down overtime on those days. Can anyone else relate? What are your thoughts?
