I’m going to start a new job next week, and I just got a list of a bunch of (mostly BS) rules. The one that stuck out to me the most was that “we do NOT talk about pay rates in our store with other employees as to not cause animosity.” This is unlawful, and I don’t see how they will enforce this besides finding some other reason to fire you. What are you actually supposed to do in this situation? The amount being paid seems to vary with vague guidelines of “what you bring to the table”. Starting pay is a bit above minimum wage, and this is just something I need to pay the bills until I get a job in my degree’s field. I don’t want to cause trouble, but it sure as hell doesn’t sit right with me.

National U.S. Strike
What is it going to take for the US to strike? Sorry if I shouldn’t be posting this here or asking this question here. Just wondering what’s it going to take? The cost of living is to high. The government leaders don’t seem to care. The corporations do not pay their fair share and are driving prices up for max profits. It’s just crazy to me. I’m not very good with words but when a carton of eggs cost as much as an hourly wage, I would think there might be some organization or something. Can we please get something going nationally? Stand as one. I’m tired and just sick of it all. The time to strike is now.
I just saw this on LinkedIn
Sick of shady bosses
My last boss was shady with money and now my current one is too. I’m pretty sure my last boss (he was a district manager, not an owner) was stealing from the company. He also would gaslight us about raises and then act like he never said that, unfulfilled promised bonuses, etc. My current boss, who I have worked for before years ago, whom I also have much respect for is also shady. To my surprise, he secretly cut multiple employees pay by little amounts to increase his profitability. He also made some other remarks to me in confidence about how he COULD short employees tips if he wanted to. It is just a sad realization that most people are basically employed to make profit for these big guys, and at the end of the day, most of them would take from us in a heartbeat. The sad part is…
Looking or some advice as I do not know if I am being taken advantage of and if I should speak up/look for a new job. I've been at my job (my first full-time job) since last May. I got hired into a position that is “number based” (i.e. I, II, III, Senior, Manager). I was hired as I, and I believe salary increases when you move up a level? Anyway, my co-worker was hired as a “I” as well, but 5 months before me (in December). When I got hired in May, she became a II with only 5 months on the job. That same year, in July, another co-worker was promoted from III to Senior. The co-worker who went from a I to a II in 5 months is clearly unfit for this job. For example, the job requires a solid knowledge of Excel as we extensively work…
