Back in the 80s, if you said that people with Bachelor degrees would be competing for call-center jobs and relying on food banks and sleeping in cars, people would have thought you were talking about some soviet country. Our grandparents would be shaking.

That's it. If you said to my grandma, who raised 8 kids on one income as a widow, that the people born after her would struggle as single child-free adults, she would have thought you meant a Soviet country, or a country in Africa. Not the USA.
