I had a job interview yesterday that was set up a staffing agency, where I was condescended and was told that “we notice that you don’t have a lot of experience” even though I explained that I was trying to keep my resume to a page, had four years of experience in admin. and a year and a half in property management, and went on to be as professional as possible. I basically was snipped at during the interview and left the interview feeling dejected.
I was offered the job this morning and declined because after doing research on the company (American Homes 4 Rent, not a great company to work for or overall) and relying on my gut instinct, I refused because I’ve dealt with unprofessional workplaces since 2019 (underpaid, talked down to, condescended, and just treated like garbage). I’ve also had some pretty great experiences with supervisors and know how to do property management correctly because I was trained to do so and trained two other directors (at my University for graduate housing), as well as other coworkers.
I feel like because I declined the position through the person who recruited me for the position, and was very direct about my feedback from the interview, that they’re going to take it out on me and not consider me for other jobs. Since working with this staff agency, I’ve gotten good reviews from the companies I’ve worked for and am worried that on top of being unemployed, they’re going to “ghost me.”
Has anyone else stood their ground regarding crappy jobs interviews and been in this place?
