This sub has been such an eye opener. Over the last year I have been inspired by your stories. I was so inspired in fact that I quit my job as a driver for amazon and thought I found the perfect one at a preschool after really searching. At first I got nothing but praise and appreciation and a promise of a free master's degree.
Yesterday I asked for a raise or more hours because I was working 35 hours a week at the most and being paid $17 an hour netting me $1.3k a month and got nothing but “I wish I was on rental assistance too” because I mentioned my need for it to afford my $1k rent.
Yesterday I was asked to buy $230 of supplies for the school out of pocket or else I wouldn't have work that day. I'm now being asked to drive 30 minutes out to take them and return them.
Today I got my termination notice.
There isn't a worker shortage, there is a shortage of good employers.
