I work at a large retail company as a “customer experience manager.” I started there almost 4 months ago in a non-management position, which was great, as I despise management. 2 months in, they offered me the management position, promising that it would stay part time (I have responsibilities outside of work, but have been keeping open availability). When they first offered it, I told them I wasn’t interested and let them know that I was planning on moving out of state in 2 months anyway. They offered again, and seeing as I could use the money, I took the position (spoiler: I have been scheduled for full time every week since, despite my protests). I submitted my official two weeks notice last week, but everyone up to the district manager has know for 2 months that I would be leaving and they have had that time to find a replacement for me. When I looked at my schedule for my last week and a half at this hellhole, I saw that not only did they schedule me for 9 consecutive days, but each of those shifts is 8+ hours. I spoke to my manager about this and she said that they days after my last day are considered my days off so I have to work 9 consecutive days. Also so she doesn’t have to work 6 consecutive days. I told her that I was absolutely not willing to work those hours, but that I could compromise. She is essentially blaming me for leaving and saying that they don’t have a replacement for me yet so I have to work all of those shifts. I am so tempted to just not show up next week, and I have a job lined up where I’m moving, it’s just nerve-racking especially since I’ve always been taught to leave somewhere “the right way”
P.S. when I gave her my two weeks notice, she was incredibly rude as if she hadn’t been expecting it and even read it aloud to another colleague in front of me and made fun of it
