BF is alone in store to close, 2nd time this week, and manager is not answering her phone.

I need some assistance. My BF is working at an unnamed dollar store chain by himself, as a keyholder. He has never taken a break since he has been hired, and is essentially thrown around the store. Tonight is the second night this week all other employees have been no call no show, and the last time he was left alone, the stock person left 10K of merchandise to perish (food). He tried to call his manager, both on my phone and his, and its direct to voicemail. I called the district manager to report him being alone, and she is approaching trying to call her right now. I’m not going to play; this store is in a dangerous location and on top of it, my BF does not have a car – he bikes to work. I’m scared he could be in possible endangerment but I don’t know if…

Advice highly appreciated.
EDIT: Thank you all. I guess he was explicitly told by his manager NEVER to be alone, nonetheless close alone. He was then told by his DM to close up shop, and she would discuss with his manager since I guess she has been doing a bunch of other shady things in the store without his knowledge (taking merch by pretending to “throw it away”, having employees work off the clock). I appreciate the responses from everyone.
