Boomer here. If Biden is not willing to get rid of the filibuster in order to protect abortion rights and to get through at least some of his “Build Back Better” agenda, then Biden isn't really behind abortion rights or “Build Back Better”; and I dare say Biden doesn't really support student loan debt forgiveness, either.
Eugene V. Debs, the Socialist candidate in the 1920 election, got it exactly right when he said, “It's better to vote for what you want and not get it, than it is to vote for what you don't want and get it.”
I voted for Biden because he was “less awful” than Trump. Biden does not have the courage of his convictions. He will not confront the RepubliQans or risk angering them. We saw, back in the 1990s with the passage of “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” and the “Defense of Marriage Act” that DINOs such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, or today with the likes of Joe Manchin or Kyrstin Sinema “preserving the filibuster” (and actively working for the other side) that DINOs are not our friends.
I have been voting for candidates whom I “disliked less than the other guy” for 50 years with the hope that things might get better. They're not getting better: they're actually getting worse.
The wheel's still spinning, but the hamster's dead. It's time we started voting for what we DO want, for a change.
