I am so incredibly done with working here. I'm on EBT, my fiancee is struggling mental health wise so I'm the only one who can work. I work 2 jobs, I substitute teach and work at said hardware store. I am paid less than people who have been at my position longer, and the new hires. it is not experience or seniority based even though they told me that. I am the only person who is openly trans (as in asking for my name to be my preferred name on my name tag) and also the only person who has a disability and needs to sit sometimes between customers. I try to go above and beyond every time I am at work, and I hate myself for it.
my time is worth less to this company, for no other obvious reason than that I am transgender and disabled. I feel sick to my stomach even thinking about it. I get paid almost a dollar less an hour, and apparently that's alright / something they don't see a problem with. I have been so mad I've had trouble sleeping and focusing on anything other than this.
they are aware of my financial situation, they are aware of my second job. they are doing this to me on purpose.
to me, it is such a big deal that I feel like I need all the pay difference I've missed from when I got hired to be given to me. I feel so so mad and uncomfortable, and they do this to me and then ask me to come in on my one day off and change my avalibility to work more.
