boomer boss asked me to help my successor for free after my last day at work

As title says. I'm honestly gobsmacked by the request. I resigned from the job before she started, offered to stay on casually until a replacement is found. Said replacement has been found and they'll start in mid-August. I offered to meet my successor on their first day to ensure a proper handover. Boomer boss asked me to move my last day early “to ease things off my plate” and “budget does not allow for paying two people for the same job”. So I agreed to leave next week.
