boss brought me food

so about 3 and a half years ago I was working for an oilfield company operating vac truck. it was the fall, and I knew due to the size of company and weather in the area, the already slowing work would be coming to a grinding halt. I discussed this with my boss and told him that I was gonna start looking at other jobs opportunities, because I knew the winter months would be too slow to keep me going. he offered to send me for training to get a boiler ticket saying “if you run boiler you'll have so many hours you will be begging for a day off” I agreed because I knew it would mean a wage increase and advancing of my own personal skills. the day before the course, (about 16 hours before it was to start) he called me and said he wasnt going to…

so about 3 and a half years ago I was working for an oilfield company operating vac truck. it was the fall, and I knew due to the size of company and weather in the area, the already slowing work would be coming to a grinding halt. I discussed this with my boss and told him that I was gonna start looking at other jobs opportunities, because I knew the winter months would be too slow to keep me going. he offered to send me for training to get a boiler ticket saying “if you run boiler you'll have so many hours you will be begging for a day off” I agreed because I knew it would mean a wage increase and advancing of my own personal skills. the day before the course, (about 16 hours before it was to start) he called me and said he wasnt going to send me anymore, we had some words and I politely told him to get fucked. i found out later that he had also bounced checks and screwed over most the other employees in one way or another and ended up closing the doors. since then I have gotten a boiler ticket through other means and am working for a company that is next door to where the old comapany was. my wife and I decided to order in last night and would you believe that the delivery guy was my old boss. as he walked up to the door and saw me standing there you could see the look of “oh I'm embarrassed” come over his face. as I paid for the food we chatted and he asked me what I was doing these days. to which i proudly told him i was working next door to his old company, he asked what I was doing for the company and I told him I was running a boiler as well as some other things they are training me on. you could almost see the cooler drain from his face as we talked. then after the payment goes through and the receipts print out he sees the tip amount (25% on a $40ish bill ) he asked if I made a mistake to which i smugly replied “no just looks like you could use it” then I told him to have a good night and closed the door. best feeling ever.
